The author of the Man Who Caught No Birds served for two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer on an island atoll in the Marshall Islands. While the story and characters are fictional, the setting, and most of the incidents described in the book are based on the first hand experience of the author, or on the first hand experience of the person who related the incident to the author.
The Man Who Caught No Birdsby Thomas Burns
Set in the Central Pacific, against the backdrop of idyllic atoll islands, a young man deals with a clash of cultures. Caught between a world where one lives by the tide, the sun and the moon, and a world of industrial and military might, he must find a way to live in a world he has not created.
