He had protected her as a child, filled all her teenaged fantasies, and as a woman, he stole her heart. Only to break it.
Now, fifteen months later, the news has released. The man she loves is one of the genetically altered Feline Breeds who have shocked the world with their presence. He's also her mate. The mark on her neck attests to that. The fire that rages in her heart and in her body further proves it. But he hadn't wanted her then; does he really want her now?
Deceit and treachery, born in the past, now haunt the present as Taber and Roni fight to make sense of a sudden bonding. The mating of heart, body and soul as the man and the beast within merge; both battling the forces raging against the union and dominance over the woman he claimed.
The series just gets better and better. In this book you learn more about a the mating frenzy and about the world in which the breeds live and how dangerous it is after making their existence public. In the mist of all these new challenges and dangers, the plot gets more intense and new bits and pieces on information get thrown in the mix by the author to make this a very unforgettable story. Be prepared to get sucked into the breeds world all over gain.

Roni is in love with Taber, who is one of the genetically altered Feline Breeds. The world has just found out about the "cats" (and other breeds)and Roni realizes the "mark" she carries on her neck, left by Taber 15 months ago, links her to him, she is his Mate. Trouble is, Roni believes Taber left her because she wasn't "woman enough" for him. How can he want her now, when he didn't want her then?
There are a lot of hurt feelings on both parts, things that each one believes to be the truth, is actually far from it. But love and fate have a way of bringing together those that are destined to be together.
The kiss that seals Roni to Taber (through the hormones he delivers to her body), leads to Roni going into "Heat", and well.. let the fun begin!
We see a lot of our favorite characters from the last book all throughout this installment. Which I was really happy about. I get "attached" to characters and hate to "close the book" on them with them never to be heard from again. Lora Leigh makes sure the ones you love are still around, even in "supporting roles".
This is another HOT installment and as I warned in my previous review: The Man Within contains extremely sexual situations and extremely explicit language which some readers may find offensive.

the story was good, but the author can be confusing. must read with an open mind and look for the overall point, not to zone in on detail.

If you are in this genre, I would recommend Christine Feehan. This book is just sex and little story. Not my cup of tea.

The men w/their "macho need to protect attitude" and the women w/their independence and self sufficience....luv it!

This is Book 2 of the Feline Breed books. The main characters are Taber and Roni, but we still have Callan, Merinus, Kane and Sherra as well. The Breed stories as a whole are unique, not like the other supernatural(i.e. vampires) that are out there ad nauseum. I find the sex scenes to be very hot as the couple faces uncontrollable lust, and the special characteristics of sex with a man who has part-lion DNA. I highly recommend it.

The heorine for this story was a better character. She was actually a strong female vs. Merinus from the last bok who was just a brat with a potty mouth. (In fact I found myself wishing Merinus out of every scene she was in for this book, that's how much I disliked her in the last book.)
I think that this is a series that will build with each book getting better and better with more detail as we go along the way as the ideas develop.
Not the best world building series I have read, but there is a lot of potential here for this to be a great series in later books. I am looking forward to catching up and reading them all.
