Overview

This book describes a method for managing chronic illness that employs a four-phase model to assess and treat patients. Elements of this model came into focus gradually for Pat Fennell in more than 20 years of clinical experience. Although the effectiveness of matched interventions and the lack of efficacy of mismatched interventions, described in this book, have yet to be demonstrated empirically, her clinical experience and that of people trained in this approach initially support the assertion.

The book clearly stipulates his purposes and gives a clear view on the clinical experiences of the author and her approach in dealing with chronically ill. All chapters explain clearly how this model was developed and how it can be put into practice.

Even for scientists, this book will be readily usable due to the extensive references Patricia offers. My clinical experience supports this model and many CFS patients already benefited from this approach. Patricia’s book will be the first step towards an integrated approach offered to the chronically ill and their environment.
