A Personal Note From The Author:

This book blends 20 years of my experience as a psychotherapist counseling hundreds of women trying to get pregnant, with my own personal experiences as a woman who sought infertility treatments.

I know the emotions around trying to conceive are sometimes more challenging than the infertility treatments themselves. I used to cry when I saw women with baby strollers and ask myself questions like, “What have I done to cause my infertility?”

That’s why I’ve put together this guide. It will heal the pain, ease the frustration, and help you regain a sense of control. It is my intention to keep you emotionally safe until you become pregnant.

She blends her personal experience and professional expertise in a way that is easy to grasp and emulate. Whenever possible, I want to add holistic practices into my treatment for infertility. I have tried acupuncture and massage, but I want to play a more active role in my daily health and well being. This book had some great tips for how to stay hopeful even when I feel like giving up. There are several mind and body techniques described in the book, and I know it's up to me to change my attitudes and beliefs.. I would have liked to read more about how to stay in the present and not worry so much about whether I will get pregnant next month or next year. I welcome all suggestions for how to stop worrying, and wish there was an entire book devoted to that.

A must-read for couples experiencing infertility

Going through infertility treatment can take a toll on a couple's relationship and intimacy. This book provides some real-life, practical advice on how to face the daily drain of battling infertility. Not only does the author/counselor provide good suggestions for couples going through the emotional roller coaster of infertility, her compassionate tone shows that she has experienced that journey herself, and her advice rings true. One chapter I found especially insightful is the one on how to deal with friends' and relatives' well-meaning but sometimes hurtful comments.
    Thanks, D.D.Petters, LPC
