Mandie is taken in and soon makes friends with the neighbors. When strangers arrive and claim to be the rightful heirs to her uncle's fortune, Mandie and her friends race through the house's hidden passageways to find the missing will. Compelled by the stories her father told her when she was a child, Mandie discovers the hidden secrets to her past and the key to her future.

Filmed in North Carolina's beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, Mandie and the Secret Tunnel contains a strong Christian worldview with valuable lessons on obedience, acceptance, patience, kindness, and faith. Based on the best-selling children's book series by Lois Gladys Leppard, this is one movie your family will watch again and again.

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 4 Up—Mandie's father has been killed protecting her from a wolf and her mama plans to "hire her out." She runs away from her North Carolina home with the help of her Cherokee Indian friends and makes her way to her Uncle John's mansion, but learns that he has died in a shipwreck. The caretaker, played by Dean Jones (The Love Bug), invites her to stay and she joins the hunt for her uncle's missing will. Meanwhile, strangers arrive at the estate claiming kinship and part of the fortune. These villains are more comical than scary. While Mandie searches for the will, she realizes that a story her father told her about a Cherokee Indian princess might have a factual basis. The first title (Bethany Press, 1983) in Lois Gladys Leppard's Mandie series is set in the 1880s and stars Lexi Johnsonn as Mandie Shaw. This story about a young girl's search to find her roots and a sense of belonging is fine fare for family viewing.—Samantha Larsen Hastings, West Jordan Library, UT
