Listening to this CD quickly overcame any thoughts about whether I would enjoy a full CD of mandolin solos. Evan Marshall indeed has a talent that can make his mandolin simulate a full orchestra. It's hard to imagine a mandolin playing such a wide range of music from simple folk tunes to pop favorites to full-bodied classical music. Not only does he play the lively tunes with vigor, but he plays the soft simple melodies such as Danny Boy and Over the Rainbow with an endearing touch. His rendition of Vincent (about the work of Van Gogh) is enchantingly done; it is a worthy addition to the popular versions of Don McLean and Jane Olivor. Listeners will find this offering a welcome change to the common music that abounds today. Evan Marshall has carved out a unique musical niche for himself and his Mandolin Magic! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
