Overview

The ultimate guide to creating chibis!

They populate manga with chunky bodies, oversized heads, and huge expressive eyes. They're schoolgirls and schoolboys, magical girls and mad scientists, fairies and fighter princesses, cyborgs and sci-fi secret agents, bikers and bad samurais, robots and rebel leaders. They've even got chubby pets and zany monster sidekicks! They're chibis!

Excruciatingly cute, highly stylized, and beloved in all manga genres (fantasy, magical girls, shounen, anthro, sci-fi-, and more), without them, manga would barely exist. And now you can learn, step by step, how to draw virtually every chibi out there, how to "chibify" ordinary manga characters—and how to invent your very own designs! Covering facial expressions, those iconic manga eyes, costumes, character interaction, and story settings, Manga for the Beginner Chibis has it all.

its a great book with great ideas, however, you must also order the Christopher Hart chibi workbook otherwise it won't help many beginning artists.

I love drawing Chibis, and this book improved my skills as a graphic designer and I have so much fun using this book. The step by step on how to draw each chibi is very helpful and detailed. If you want to improve your drawing skills, this book would be put to great use =^)

I am just in love with this book. It not only shows how to draw the chibis, but also it shows the basic proportions of chibis. Iwill, and have, recommendef this to my friends.

The chibis are very cute also adorableand quite humerous in their expressions . A must buy. Just needs to work on some of the small things , like explaining more in detail how to draw hhis marvelous creations and also some tips on to come up with new ways to create these adorable chibi's.

Fine as a style study or experienced artists, pitiful as an instruction manuel for beginners. Two or three pages are devoted to explaining his style, and the rest of the book is four-step drawings for you to copy wih no ritten help or explanation. Hart seems more bent on teaching how to draw his style and preference, rather than teaching universal style techniques to help budding artists discover their own style. It's cute, but virtually useless in many ways.

Didn't exactly stick to the same style. Ya know that prom pic? The "in-love-and-dancing-up-a-storm" guy looked like a freaky possesed snake-man. Yeah, Chris. Not your best work
