Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Manga is breaking out all over. Once the nearly exclusive province of Japanese artists, these graphic narratives are now being crafted by scores of Americans and U.S.-based artists. This large-format pictorial showcases a diverse selection of American mangaka (manga artists). Featured artists include Svetlana Chmakova, Christy Lijewski, Jesse Phillips, Amy Kim Ganter, Tania del Rio, Felipe Smith, Rivkah, and M. Alice LeGrow. Each chapter combines an artist profile; examples of his or her work; and notes by the artist on character design, layout, digital inking, and coloring. A superb intro to promising work.

    Enjoyed it.

This book was very enjoyable for me. It has lots of great examples on how anime has many differant styles, (Meaning it can work for almost anyone interested in cartooning, comics etc.) Mangaka America shines a light on some awesome artists, highly reccomended.
