This is a story of redemption, lost love, found love, and forgiveness.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This is not the type of book I typically buy or read. While very well written, it did take me some time to get interested in the story. It is written in first person POV and switched from Cade to Francesca and back at each chapter. While that, in itself, is something that bothers me while reading, Ms. Tatum did a very good job with character voice and separation.

The story left me with a smile on my face at the happiness the two characters were finally able to achieve, after so much heartbreak. For those interested in sweet, realistic love stories, I would recommend this story, and even the series.

The letters were juvenile. Their story continues in the next book in the series, however, it is only 82 pages. It feels like a rip off to pay $2.99 for a book with only 80 pages when it should have been in book 1. Ms. Tatum, I'm done, thanks!!!!

    Now that I've read it

It was refreshing to see that Cade wasn't some larger than life hero, in fact he had some very human flaws and Francesca's not some hard nose lawyer. 3/4th of the way into the story; the author seems to have run outof mater to keepthe story going so it seemed to drag on and on.
Free or otherwise, if I had read this review, I wouldn't bother to read this ebook. Don't recommend.

    Ugh

Ok details are important to me. So 9 yrs ago she was a sophmore and he was a senior. Fall 8 yrs ago she still saw him in the halls of high school? 2 yrs of highschool, 4 yrs under grad, 3 yrs law school plus 3 yrs working for law firm. That equals more than 9 in my book and she was only 25.
Glad it was free. Because it was not well written and very over rated.

Mangled Hearts will take you on an emotional journey of second chances. Written from a dual POV from Cade and Francesca. Cade and Francesca have a past going back to high school. That unspoken connection that they feel for each other is abruptly severed with a tragedy that they both share. Fast forward 7 years later. Cade is an alcoholic. He is drowning away his demons and pain of the past. Francesca is a lawyer trying to prove her way in a law firm dominated by men. When the chance is given to her to present her first case, she is ecstatic. Her joy is short lived when she realizes her first client will be Cade. They both cannot deny that the feelings that shared in the past have not diminished, that spark is still there. Both of them have suffered loss and have been broken. Can they face their past and overcome the issues that they face. Will they be given that second chance that they are both hoping for, and have that future they always dreamed of? Felicia Tatum dealt with the issues of heartbreak, redemption, loss and most importantly addiction. Cade's addiction was addressed with the respect and dignity that it should be. You will route for Cade and cry for Francesca. Truly a believable and well written book.

Mangled Hearts will take you on an emotional journey. Francesca

Mangled Hearts will take you on an emotional journey. Francesca and Cade have a history dating back to high school. A shared tragedy cuts their ties and they go years without seeing one another. Cade’s legal troubles and Francesca’s law degree throw them together once again and force them to face the feelings for each other they buried long ago. The book is written in dual POV and includes flashbacks to their younger days. The glimpse into their youth and the relationship they shared was essential to understanding the emotions that begin to boil to the surface when they meet again as adults.

Francesca and Cade really captured my heart as characters. They are both hurting from the tragic event that altered their lives forever, but they have gone in completely opposite directions with their suffering. Cade copes by attempting to completely obliterate his grief with alcohol and maintain a constant state of numbness. Francesca, on the other hand, attempts to maintain complete and total control and keeps her heart closed off, refusing to risk relinquishing emotional control to anyone. The contrast between these two characters and how they try to deal with life is what makes this book so captivating. The emotional turmoil plaguing their relationship is palpable throughout the entire story, tugging on my heartstrings from the first page to the last.

I loved this book. One of the great things is the back story was mixed into the main story. You didn't have to wonder what lead to the current. In this book you also get the POV of both main characters. This was the first book I have read of Felicia's but I can promise it won't be my last.

This is not my usual genre. I am a paranormal, sci-fi, military, mystery/suspense thriller reader. I got this book as a free read. I enjoyed it even though it was not my usual taste. Mangled Hearts handled situations with the characters in a manner that was realistic and not to over dramatic. It covered death and grief, miscommunication, alcoholism, and rehab, It dealt with issues of addiction that could have been much darker, but were handled to show that recovery is a real part of the relationship between the H and h,since addiction could make or break a relationship. It was a good HEA and stand alone, It does have a 1.5 follow up in the series to see how the characters have progressed. I am looking forward to reading that as well.
