Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
AGERANGE: Ages 3 to 6.

He/she/they "is/are using good manners" is the repeated refrain in this title, which is part of the "Way to Be!" series. Early readers will find the format perfect for practicing their skills while learning about how to make a library visit a pleasant experience for everyone. Being careful with materials, creating a quiet environment for readers, refraining from eating, using good judgment about selecting materials, and many other topics are addressed in this basic look about how to behave in a library. The book does stress that the library is a place where fun can be found but mainly encourages proper comportment for everyone. The stylized, digital art is colorful, up-to-date (showing computers, etc.) and quite bold. The variety of faces and family groupings are inclusive, although no people of different abilities are depicted. The back matter includes some "fun facts" including the oldest, the first, the largest, etc. but they do not seem to match the level of the intended audience in their flat presentation. There is also an index, a mini-bibliography, and a FactHound code for web searches. Suitable for collections that need more materials about manners. Reviewer: Sheilah Egan
