Explore Europe through some of the finest map makers of 500 years ago and discover how America was seen in the eyes of Europe. The artistic beauty of old maps is truly striking. This book compliments my other Barnes & Noble books ' BLAEU'S THE GRAND ATLAS of the 17th Century World ' and 'CLAUDIUS PTOLEMY - THE GEOGRAPHY ' This 'Mapmakers Art' also features MARITIME ATLAS and familiarizes us with the maps the maritime traders used. Very interesting to me is the page on national and city flags from the Delisle atlas of 1739. This shows the HANSA cities ELBING and DANZIG , various Prussian and Brandenburg flags among a host of other country and city flags . There are even maps that show wildlife of various parts of the world. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
