Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Beaded jewelry designer and teacher DeCoster offers 24 projects for rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces that have movable components. The designs are sophisticated and complex, but the generously detailed illustrations and thorough instructions will help even the novice bead weaver tackle them. The photography is sharp, clear, and helpful for interpreting the instructions. A “Rings of Saturn” necklace features revolving beaded rings around a core; the “Revolution Ring” adds a spinner top to a beaded band. A six-page photo gallery of moving jewelry by other artists is an inspiring bonus. If a stationery object like a book can adequately convey the energy and excitement of jewelry that moves, this book has done it with its compilation of beautiful and clever pieces. (Aug.)

In addition to excellent illustrations and photographs, Marcia also explains the basics of 10 favorite stitches and provides a fabulous eight-page gallery of beautiful jewelry for the reader to marvel over. You won't be disappointed!” —Bead & Button

In her second book, DeCoster (Marcia DeCoster's Beaded Opulence: Elegant Jewelry Projects with Right Angle Weave) focuses on beaded jewelry projects that emphasize movement. The projects use a variety of stitches and techniques, including right-angle weave and its variants, peyote stitch, herringbone stitch, and netting. VERDICT Experienced beadworkers with a taste for intricate jewelry will find an abundance of exciting projects in this collection of attention-grabbing statement pieces.
