El eje central de la novela es la relación de los desdichados amores de dos adolescentes: Efraín, hijo de un hacendado de la región del Cauca, y su prima María. Este idilio va a tener como marco el bucólico ambiente natural de esa región colombiana.

Meet the Author

Jorge Isaacs (1837-1895) fue un novelista y poeta colombiano del género romántico. Vivió durante la consolidación de la República. Su padre fue un judío inglés procedente de Jamaica, que se instaló primero en el Chocó, donde se enriqueció con la explotación minera aurífera y el comercio con Jamaica, y después en Cali. La obra literaria de Isaacs se reduce a un libro de poemas que publicó en 1864 y a su única novela, María.

    Replace the narrator, Fabio Camero!

    Any future Spanish audio book narrated by Fabio Camero will be returned by me immediately. He has also ruined 'Babbitt' and 'Picture of Dorian Grey' with his voice dropping to whispers. Also sounds as if he is permanently suffering from a head cold.

    Maria, the treasure of Latin America

    This book is so beautiful and as a latin american person I am so proud of the work that this man has done to complete such a well written book. This book is so lovely and full of romance.
