Overview

THERON – Dark haired, duty bound and deceptively deadly. He’s the leader of the Argonauts, an elite group of guardians that defends the immortal realm from threats of the Underworld.

From the moment he walked into the club, Casey knew this guy was different. Men like that just didn’t exist in real life—silky shoulder-length hair, chest impossibly broad, and a predatory manner that just screamed dark and dangerous. He was looking for something. Her.

She was the one. She had the mark. Casey had to die so his kind could live, and it was Theron’s duty to bring her in. But even as a 200-year-old descendent of Hercules, he wasn’t strong enough to resist the pull in her fathomless eyes, to tear himself away from the heat of her body.

As war with the Underworld nears, someone will have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

When I saw this as the nooks free friday ebook, I thought, Why not, its free. I really wasn't interested in reading a book with Greek Gods. But then I thought about how much I liked Percy Jackson and The Olympians, even though it was a YR, and so I started it. And to my surprise, I was hooked. It is a great read full of romance and action. I especially enjoyed the chemistry between Casey and Theron. All i can say is WOW!!! I am looking forward to when Entwine is released in ebook form. Thank you Elisabeth for keeping me thrilled and wanting more....

Despite what some people are saying, I loved the story and the book. I thought it was a wonderful way of getting loss in a story. I also thought it was an original idea the incorporation of Egyptian lore and paranormal ideas. I got loss in the characters and the story ideas. I can't wait for the second one in the series. If you are looking for a totally different spin on a popular idea that I highly recommend The Eternal Guardian series.

I'm not normally a fan of Greek mythology either but as it was one of B&N's Free Friday books I decided to check it out. I was happily surprised that it kept my interest and am now waiting for the next in the series.

I picked this book up because I saw the Publisher's Pledge on the cover and it peaked my curiosity. I started reading on a flight home from Vegas and the first thing I noticed was a spelling mistake on the first page. It said "Strop" instead of "Stop". I figured that's okay, it's a little thing. These things get overlooked. But then I get to a part in the book where the author mentions my hometown and she managed to misspell one of our most famous street names, calling it "Robeson" instead of "Robson" and I thought, you can give a pledge but you couldn't give this book a little more editing time? I know it's trivial but considering the amount of money people shell out for books, I would expect the publishers to try to put more effort into making sure everything is correct. So many books these days have so many mistakes. Anyways, those are probably my only qualms with the book. I was thoroughly engrossed from the start and quite enjoyed Ms. Naughton's fresh take on Greek mythology. The story is pretty hot from the get go and the character's are quite likable. With intriguing set-ups for many of the supporting characters, this is a series I look forward to enjoying for some time.

I started with 'TEMPTED', the third book in the series, and loved it so much that I bought the next one 'ENRUPTERED'. Loved it too. As I was missing the Eternal Guardians, I bought the first two books of the series, this one 'MARKED' and the next one 'ENTWINED'. I absolutely loved them both and helped me get so much more of the characters. "MARKED' starts the story of the Eternal Guardians focusing on their Leader, the Argonaut Theron. He is betrothed to the heir of the Argolean kingdom, the timid princess Isadora. But Isadora's strength is fainting because of a prophecy that binds her to another Chosen one, her half sister Casey. Theron is assigned the task of looking for Casey in the human realm and bringing her to Argolea to reunite with Isadora. Isadora's survival depends on Casey's presence, as her energy will be passed to Isadora. This is the ultimate sacrifice: Casey's life for Isadora's life and the survival of the Argolean people. Needless to say Theron falls for Casey (he finds out she is his Soul Mate) and has to fight between his loyalty to his king and people and his love for Casey. The book, like all the others in the series, is written beautifully, is packed with subreal action and the love story is strong and never, never cheesy. Wonderful indeed!

I am suprised to see some low reviews for this book. I really enjoyed it and I am anxious to read the next book in the series. I am a fan of Ward, Kenyon, Cole and others and I do mark Naughton right up thier with those authors. The storyline held you from beginning to end and got you excited for the next book in the series. Eternal Guardians series is well thought out and characters are strong.I recommend this to all my booklover friends.

Within the first pages of the book the publishers compare Naughton to J.R. Ward or Sherrilyn Kenyon. I went into this book with those two amazing writers in mind and my expectations were crushed by it. However, when reading this book for its own sake and not expecting it to compare to Ward or Kenyon, Naughton's heroes have their own special charm. It starts off with Theron--a descendant of Hercules--saving a mortal woman from demons. An attraction is present, but both are hiding rather serious issues from each other that could threaten their budding love. Rather general run of the mill stuff. Naughton's world of characters do grow on you, though, and the choices thrown before each warrior as they meet their match are hilarious and slightly touching at the same time. Her second book, Entwined, is stronger, the characters and plot more developed, and now I can't wait to see which Guardian comes next.

When her grandmother succumbed to cancer, waitress Acacia "Casey" Simopolus felt all alone as she has no known blood relative left in the world. She becomes afraid when she notices some of the same symptoms in her. A migraine drives Casey from her work as a waitress at a strip joint. Driving home, she intervenes when large animals assault a male human. Casey helps the victim, Theron, who heals rapidly from the injuries he received during the attack. Theron conceals from his angel that he is a guardian from Argolea, who protects his world from the evil ones trying to destroy it. He also hides his mission from her. His dying King Leonidas sent him to bring Casey to his world in order to save the ailing heir Princess Isadora. Attracted to the earthling, Theron fears he must choose between sacrificing his soul mate or his people, as Princess Isadora lives if Casey dies and dies if Casey lives. The latest Eternal Guardians Greek mythos romantic fantasy (see Stolen Fury and Stolen Seduction) is an incredible tale starring a complex woman and a convoluted confused champion who understands first hand Prometheus' options as doing the right thing is not simple or easy. Readers will enjoy this entry that focuses on loyalty and love in relationships as Theron must choose between his need and that of his people. Harriet Kl

I enjoyed the book for the most part. The characters were fine, if a little undeveloped. The storyline was interesting and seemed as if it were going to evolve into a possible multi-book story. Then, the conclusion rapidly resolved everything in just a few pages. Left me feeling as if the author had wanted to wrap it up quickly. The end was too rushed to be an enjoyable finish to the book, hence the 3 stars. This could be a great book if it were only developed a little more.

It has been YEARS since i was so into a book that i finished it in less than 24 hours. If there is a love for mythology in ur your heart that mixes with romance, YOU HAVE GOT to read this book. I will be buying the next in the series as soon as I finish this review. I LOVED THIS BOOK. Ms.Naughton you are amazing.

There's just something about mythology that's exciting. Marked takes an idea, gives it a new twist, applies a few albeit cliches, and comes up with a magical, romantic, adventurous story of soul mates, prophecies, gods, monsters and steamy almost-sex. The world-building was really cool, and drew on lots of different elements to the gods. The characters weren't as well defined as I would have liked; I needed the Hero to inform me about the Heroins character so I knew, instead of saw it in action. But I still liked them! The inner struggles, the choices, all very cool. The plot was one of those prophecy plots, which kinda make me roll my eyes, but it was still uber cool, and steamy. Can't wait for the next one!

Saying this book held my interest is saying quite a lot, actually! I'm not a fan of fantasy books (and this is based on the idea that the Greek Gods are actually real and still around, albeit in another dimension) and read this only because it was free. I was pleasantly surprised that it held my interest (lots of free books I can't finish because they're poorly written). I wish more free books were as entertaining as this one was!

The tall, handsome, hunky guy meets the nearly as tall, lanky gorgeous girl, he being an Argonaut and she a half god/half human (which of course she doesn't know). Eventually, after much flirting and fighting, they realize they are soulmates from another time and place. After fighting off Daemons and family/friend interferences, they FINALLY decide to help save the world! Fun read, easy going and typical of a romance novel. Look forward to next book in series for a rainy day read.

For a freebie, an excellent read. If I'd bought it I wouldn't have been thrilled, only satisfied. Her style can be a little slow and the plot difficult to follow but it has good romance, interesting legendary figures and their descendants, and enough mojo to keep you reading to the end.

Like many others, I picked this up as one of the "Free Friday" downloads. It's been in my library for quite some time and I decided to pick it up tonight. What a GREAT read! I couldn't put it down! The characters are well-developed and the plot a unique blend of Greek mythology and fiction. I was happy to see the second book of the series is already out - and that books 3,4 and 5 are in the works! I can't wait to read them!

Good book, the story flowed well and the characters definately pulled you in. Only 1 major drawback, I got tired of the obligitory "throbbing erection" every few chapters. It makes the book seem too crossoverish like scifi to romance novel. I loved the scifi aspect. The romance made me feel like I was reading the playboy advisor.

I was scanning the free ebooks and thought why not? And was really surprised by how much I liked this book. I am not not a book reviewer, but I do read about a book every day or so and throughly enjoy it. I have not read any books by this author, but try to start each new book clearheaded and without preconceived notions. With that being said, I loved the mythological story line! It is not a genre that I normally read and found myself really getting into the book. There is love, sex, gods, and different worlds...what's not to enjoy :) Get the book, you have nothing to loose, and give it a read, I know you will enjoy it! Happy reading *hugs*

This is an awesome book series!!! I didn't know what to expect, with it being a free read. This is such a great book! I loved it so much, I was greatly anticipating the next, which I am pleased to say is out now. You will get hooked. The next is called Entwined, and I highly recommend it.

Strong female characters, mythical heroic Greek alpha males, family and friendship bonds, HEA, all made for a great story.
