Marked as prey, Alec refuses to fall for a werewolf. Until he's forced to turn to Liam for protection. Alec Ryerson carries a scar over his heart and scars on his psyche, ugly reminders of a nightmare that still doesn't seem quite real. Even a year later, he stays inside on full-moon nights and avoids most peopleuntil he meets the strange and beautiful Liam. Liam feels an undeniable pull toward Alec. However Liam is a werewolf; Alec is a human who clearly has trepidations about a relationship. Then Liam discovers he is not the first werewolf Alec has encountered. Alec has been marked for death by the murderous "quad," a group of twisted werewolves who prey on humans. Now the quad's sights are set on recruiting Liam's eight-year-old brother into their murderous pack. Liam will do everything in his power to protect both his brother and Alec from the wolves, even if it means calling in favors and killing those with whom he once ran. Because Alec, like it or not, is Liam's chosen mate.

Now, don't get me wrong - I'm not some brainless bimbo who buys these books exclusively for the mansexin'. But this book was freaking confusing. It throws out a lot of mixed messages, leaves you to fill in a lot of blanks without any help, and uses terms and refereces to family ties and werewolf culture that are never really clarified for the reader. The two main men are believable and sexy, and their dynamic is fun to try and figure out. But in my honest opinion, that's not enough to justify charging money for this. I felt like I was reading a sequel (and if I was, for goodnness sake let me know so I can formally retract this review).

Two gay men and werewolves! Loved the story and the characters - a romance I could get into. How is it that lately women writers are better at gay romance than most gay male writers? The erotic scenes were well placed, and not thrown in for the sake of having a sex scene, or two. The characters were believable men. Sort of like a gay version of Twilight that focused on the wolves, and without the poor me female that has to suffer over and over again for love. LOL Plus, it was a book, not a short story. Looking forward to reading more from this author!

After reading this, Joely Skye is now my new favourite author for romance novels because sex isn't all over every page. There is a lot of character and plot development that allows you to really connect with and understand the characters. This book gets a five-star rating hands down.

I'm always in search of decent "gay werewolf" books - as i've previously reviewed on some other books it's very hard to find one that has a plot and isn't just about the sex. This book is one of a few that i have found that doesn't focus on sex - even though there is plenty of it - and instead focuses on the relationship between the characters. This story is well written and very easy for me to follow - there is a plot and there are twists in that plot. The characters are fairly well written out and believable, even though there is room for the author to expand. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a "gay werewolf" story that has plenty of sex, but doesn't focus on that one act.
