"The Apocalypse didn't come from every religion's version of Heaven and Hell" but from super-volcanoes erupting changing life, laws, and beliefs. Society was altered into a class system. Babies were given into servitude to be trained as slaves, never to know what love was. Nick, a young boy with unique abilities, was one of those babies.
As I started reading the journey of Nick's life I learned about Sentries and what they did, but one stood out among them. His name was Todd Ruger, Nick's master, a man that Nick only knew from afar and from letters received over the years.
"When Todd went to collect his slave boy he knew he wanted more than a slave, he wanted a mate."
It took very little time for me to become completely entranced and had to sit on my hands to keep from skipping a few chapters to learn the mystery of what Todd did as a sentry, and how Nicky fit into the puzzle. The suspense kept me on edge and eager to see where the plot was going. I wont' spoil the excitement of what they hunted but let's say it was definitely not human. There was no way I could keep from developing a soft spot for the two main characters; Nick with his wide eyed wonder and fear of the world outside the small village he grew up in, and Todd having to deal with some of the laws and customs that he does not believe in. It was nervewracking watching them struggle to survive in a world where they could both end up dead depending on which side of the caldera they were on.
Ms. Noble definitely showed her talent and creative side in creating a time in the future where today's technology is no longer useful, and the laws of the land, and the people in it are nothing like we know. The story is loaded with some really hot sex scenes that showed not only the chemistry between Todd and Nick, but the love and trust that developed. Marked Yours is a fabulous tale, with plenty of sizzle and conflict that kept me reading until the end.
