Overview

". . . a faggot? A queer? A sissy? About a dozen more words meandered through my brain, every word I’d ever heard from my friends, from adults, from TV. Was that who I was now? Were those words me now?"

While most gay men grow up living in the closet until they are brave enough to step out and be themselves, Adam Shepherd experiences the opposite. After living almost all of his young life out and gay, he goes into the closet, willingly, in order to have the career and life he wants and needs. He thinks he can handle it, but he soon discovers how much he has truly given up.

Chase Michaels was always there for Adam, a substitute “big-brother” and true friend in his growing up years. Adam has always harbored a secret involving Chase, but it conflicts with the closet he now lives in as an adult. When the pressure becomes too much, Adam chooses to stay in his closet . . . but at what cost? And can he change things before it’s too late?

Could not stop reading this novel ! An excellent fully developed storyline and characters that I could relate to. Gladly in many parts of the United States the need to hide one's sexuality no longer exists and DADT has been repealed with full martial benefits for any married couple (M/F M/M F/F) but there are still many parts of the country that are not safe to be yourself and many people can still relate to the story. Thank you C.J. Anthony and look forward to additional novels.

I have read a lot of romance books and i read everything. I really loved this book. It didnt matter that it was about two gay men, the love and comitment was still there. I couldmt put it down and i loved the ending. Will read more books from this author. More people should read this book to get a better ubderstanding of gay relationships, just like any other relationship. Truely great book.

Really good romance. Liked how story followed history of main characters from youth. Could not put it down. Highly recommend.

GOOD STORY. NOT AS MUCH SEXUAL CONTENT THAT YOU WOULD EXPECT WITH EROTIC ROMANCE

I identified with Adam, the story's main character, because he has to hide who he is, to stay in the military. This, in turn, places a terrible strain on his relationship. Adam must count the costs. I further identified with Adam as he observed the quest toward GLBT equality in the military. It was as important as today's quest toward GLBT marriage equality. This story will strike home for anyone who has ever been in the closet, whether for career, or for other reasons. Ric B Houston,TX

I really enjoyed this book. It was a wonderful story that reminds you, we are not all treated equal. I loved how it started with Adam as a young boy and moves into his adulthood where we get to see the man he becomes.

Could not put it down. Like a true romantic I would have liked to know how it went after DA/DT was over. It is a plain and simple love story between 2 people.

Couldn't put it down! I loved the characters and their growth throughout the storyline. You can't help but pull for them and their HEA. Look forward to more from this author!

This was a beautiful romance about two men who have known each other since childhood. They each grow up and have to deal with discovering themselves and being gay in worlds where it is not easily accepted. They come together in such a beautiful way that it makes you want to see them find their HEA. 270 pgs.
