The book "Marley and Me" is a wonderful book that has touched the hearts of many readers. Josh and Jenny Grogan both had wonderful memories of their childhood dog's and would like to add an addition to their new family. They end up getting a cute, bubbly, Labrador retriever, and naming him Marley.Even on the first night Marley shows the Grogan's who is in charge by not letting them put him in the garage. Marley is not like any other dog, he is a wild, house destroying dog. Marley shows the family that they should be careful what they wish for. Marley is a wild dog that destroys the house numerous times, chews up everything, and slobbers everywhere, and not to mention runs away from home. Marley is an untouchable dog and was even kicked out of puppy training classes. Marley is an wild, lovable dog that is part of the Grogan family. "Marley and Me" is a touching story about a lovable dog who makes his way into the hearts of the Grogan family. Even through all of Marley's "outburts" the Grogan family loves him not matte what.Marley loves the family he has and he would do anything to protect his family. One thing about "Marley and Me" that might not be pleasing to others is it tends to drag some parts out. Overall "Marley and Me" is a wonderful book and if you are an animal lover or not you should pick up a copy and read about the fun, lovable, crazy dog Marley. This fun outgoing dog will also make it into the hearts of your family.

A "tail" like no other!

Marley and me, by John Grogan is a hilarious, exciting, and heartwarming story about a young couples journey to start a family. John and Jenny decide it's time to get some practice at taking care of something, and both, growing up with dogs, felt it was a perfect idea to get one. Marley was what they decided to name this male yellow lab that looked so innocent, but grew to be a crazy, destroying, and yet protective dog. This book is great for all ages and dog or any pet lovers. This book really shows how dogs, even wild and crazy ones, can grow on people and really become a true member of their family.

I think Marley and Me is a great story with really good details about how Marley acts and looks. Also, the author makes you feel like you are there with John and Jenny and you can picture the rooms Marley destroyed. I feel like I am the one that has just been tackled by Marley and licked on the face. I don't even have a dog but I can tell how the family really loves that animal and how he is such a huge part of there family. The only thing about this book I don't really like is at some parts the author seems to drag on and on about something which makes it boring at some points. Besides that I loved this book overall because of everything it made me feel. It made me laugh, smile, and at some times it even made me cry. This book also won the 2006 Quill book award. I would defiantly recommend this book to anyone about 9 and older, its very interesting and I couldn't put the book down.

Marley and Me

Marley and Me, by John Grogan is a practical and entertaining book. It made me feel many emotions, happiness to sadness. Marley, the Labrador retriever, is full of energy and sometimes trouble but at the end of the day he is fun, loving, and caring. In the middle of the book, Marley, John, and Jenny hear a scream from a girl that was stabbed. This makes a side of Marley come out that John has never seen. Marley stands in a fighter's position. His fur bristled and his jaw clenched ready to fight. Marley shows many sides of him in this book that make you smile, laugh, and sometimes be scared. This book is humorous and heartfelt. In the beginning of the book Jenny and John had no idea what they were in for, but everything was an experience. Marley is a dog that everyone wishes they had except when he destroys the garage or eats Jenny's gold necklace. The book talks about many rough times and times that will always be remembered. Later on in the book, John and Jenny's three kids, Patrick, Conner, and Colleen share memorable times with Marley. They all grew up with him in there lives so everyone had a special connection with him. I enjoyed how realistic the author wrote this book and the love he put into it. The writing was amazing and you just want to keep reading after every chapter. I would recommend this book to teenagers, adults, dog lovers, or anyone looking for humor or entertainment.

An Unforgettable Story Follows The Adventures of the Worlds Worst Dog

I have read many books and rarely have I cried while reading them. This book definitely catches you and takes your breath away. Normally I have to force myself to read a book but when I get a really good one, all I want to do is read. I never put Marley and Me down. Every spilt second I got I would read another one of Marley's hilarious adventures. This book was one that you get attached to and hope it's never going to end. One of the reasons I loved this book so much was because it was based on a true story and obviously was reality. If you are a mom, dad, child, or whatever, you can find a way to relate this family to yours, which makes it so much more enjoyable. It is also full of relationships and about being there for each other in bad and good times. Not only were there stories of things the dog did, but also the hardships of starting a family, becoming new parents, and having such a large family that it is very stressful. It was so stressful that they had a hard time finding a spilt second to smile at someone. The book was full of stories and was never boring. After you laughed at one story, you would begin another. Another reason this book is so touching is because we can relate to it as pet owners. Sure we can relate to the family but when you can think about all of the other times your dog has done something like that or maybe something worse, it just really makes you reflect back on your life. This book changes your perspective of the way you view dogs and how you care for them. Sometimes, they can just be something else to take care of and it gets annoying when they won't leave you alone. This is exactly what Marley did but the Grogans came to understand that that is how Marley is loyal. They never leave your side. You come to realize how special and adorable dogs really are and you begin to give them more attention. You never realize how quickly old age comes on, but the Grogans show that you need to cherish every moment because before you know it, the dog will be gone. The detail in this book is phenomenal! You get so attached to Marley because you feel like you have been there his whole life watching him grow up. When it was his time to go, I broke into tears. At the end of the book you almost feel like you have lost a close family of yours. Not only do you lose the dog, but also you feel like you have grown up in the Grogans home and that you know them personally. Marley and Me will take your breath away and make you fall into a fantastic daydream of how great life would be like with Marley.

This book made me cry. It was an awesome book. I would even recomend this book for a child. That's how great of a book this is. Great for any age. That's how awesome this book is. You may love this book as much as I do!

A Great Book

I just finished Marley and Me and could relate so much to the story. It is one that you don't want to put down. John Grogan is a wonderful writer and knows how to capitivate your attention to the fullest. I also recommend his other book "The Long Trip Home". It is also one that is easy to relate to also.

Amazing!

When I read this book, I was just blown away! I know it's bad to see the movie first, but I did. I loved the movie, but when I read the book, I was amazed! It was sooo much better than I expected it to be! From the beginning of the story to the end, you just end up falling in love with Marley, just how John and Jenny did. When Marley passes away (that does not give away the ending of the book because all living things have to move on), I started crying! I was amazed at how much Marley kind of grew on me! Well done, John Grogan! This book is definitely one of my favorites and I intend to read it again!

A very touching, heart-warming story about mans best friend, and how a crazy, fun loving dog brings a family together.

The Book "Marley and Me" is a wonderful book. It is about the Grogan family, who had been looking to get a pure breed dog, that will be fun and loving, and possibly even a winner in a national dog show. When the Grogan family gets this pup, they name it Marley, in honor of Bob Marley (a famous jamacian singer). After having this dog for just a few weeks, they find that Marley is anything but a pure breed. He chews up their personal belongings, he runs off, and he makes HUGE messes in the house. But in the end, Marley brings this family together, because of what Marley put them through.
One thing i didn't really like all to much about this book, was that to me i found it to be somewhat slow. I really liked how the author really explained all of the things that Marley did, which to me was what made it such a witty, funny book, yet also very heart-warming. I think that the major message in this book is that no matter what life puts you through,family is always the number one most important thing to think about. This would really be a wonderful book to read for anyone, it is a great book to read on a really relaxed "inside" day.

Marley and Me by: John Grogan

Marley and Me was a very touching book about as very loving but high strung dog. Marley has lots of energy but is confined to the garage while his owners John and Jenny work for most of the day. Since Marley thinks he is the alfa dog he is very hard to train. John works with him every chance he gets, but that still isn't enough. John and Jenny have many disagreements on how to raise Marley but they worked through there problems and Marley brought them closer together. This book was very well written. I could picture what was going on in the book because it was so descriptive. Even though this book had a lot detailed it tended to drag on in some parts. I think anyone who loves dogs should read this book. It has a very good message and is very funny too. I would also recommend the book The Longest Trip Home by John Grogan. I would recommend this to anyone who likes the way John writes. Overall I would give this book a 4/5 rating because it was entertaining and funny too. This book has a good message and is a very touching story too.

Loved the book

I started reading this book Friday night and now Monday morning I have finished it. I could not put the book down. I have a 9 year old dog that is getting kinda old and when I was reading this book I realized how much I will miss her when she goes and how much it scares me! She is my best friend. Where I go she goes and you can see it in her eyes how much she loves me. I'm going to buy the child version of this book for my 10 and 6 year old daughters. If you love dogs you have to buy this book. Make sure you have tissues. You will laugh until you almost wet yourself and you will cry. I can't wait to see the movie when it comes out. I have seen the previews for the movie and while reading the book and remembering the previews makes me want to see the movie more than ever. Please read this book

Loved it

I just finished reading "Marly & Me." I have a labrador retriever of my own, which is the main reason I had originally picked this book up off the shelf. I caught myself laughing at the book because the way the author describes his dog, it sounds like my dog to a 'T!'

If you're a dog lover, read it.
If you're not a dog lover, read it anyway.
You won't regret it.

I read the book Marley and Me, and it was one of the best books

I read the book Marley and Me, and it was one of the best books ever.
This book is a family book and relates to a lot of other people who own dogs. The book is detailed really well and gives a mental image of what is actually going on in the book. It made me feel like I was actually being run over by Marley; and then, he jumps on me and starts to lick my face. I can relate really well with this book because I have a English Mastiff that is tannish yellow color and has a black face, he is also really big, a lot bigger than Marley, but still acts like a puppy. This book, in my mind, is the best book in the world to relate to. It is amazing!
To sum up my thoughts, I would recommend this to anybody that likes animals or family books to read this book. Even if you don’t like dogs, it is an amazing book.
I would give this book five stars in my opinion, because it is so detailed and descriptive of what is actually happening. You can create a perfect image of what Marley is destroying, stealing, or slobbering.

Great Book!

Marley and Me is a great book that follows the life of the Grogan family and Marley, the yellow Labrador Retriever that the Grogan family adopts. This book highlights all of the hilarious moments in the family's life with Marley, as well as some of the bad ones, such as when Marley breaks out of a few metal crates because of his anxiety. I think that I liked this book so much because I can relate to it because I have always had a lab growing up as a kid. Marley also reminds me of my black Labrador Retriever, Tess (Who has also broken out of a few crates). This book has many funny moments, such as when Marley is halfway out of the car window walking on the road with his front legs. However, it also has sad moments like when the dog is sick and all the kids are upset. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who likes animals and laughs.

Pet lover's tale

This is an absolutely must-have for any pet lover out there. I started to give it away around the time the movie came out - for birthday gifts and stuff - and got the response that everyone liked the book more than the movie!! Totally worth a good tear jerk.

Would recommend to a friend...

Grogan just has a way with words. His style is simplistic and straightforward, yet beautiful. Anyone who has shared an unbreakable bond with a dog will relate to Grogran's portrayal of their unconditional love. Overall, a very enjoyable read.
