Marriage under Fire: Why We Must Win This Battle

Overview

Why shouldn't the definition of family be broadened and modernized? What harm could be done by two consenting adults who love one another coming together to create a binding union? In this succinct analysis of the issue, Dr. James Dobson presents a compelling case against the legalization of "marriage" between homosexuals, and the dire ramifications our nation could face:

  • Same-sex marriage will destroy the fundamental principles of marriage, ...

  • Same-sex marriage will destroy the fundamental principles of marriage, parenthood, and gender.
  • Families will be increasingly unstable as their definition expands to incorporate multiple "moms" or "dads."
  • Legalization of gay marriages will lead to polygamy and other alternatives to one-man/one-woman unions.
  • The divorce rate will be even higher, making our children less safe.
Marriage Under Fire provides the foundations of a battle plan for the preservation of traditional values in our nation. Our response could not be clearer. The well-being of the family, and thus our nation, hangs in the balance. Now is the time to speak out in defense of marriage and the family.

Monstrously horrid display of conservative ignorance.

Research same-sex couples in the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Canada, etc. Same-sex families are often more successful than heterosexual families. My daughter is an excellent student, a beautiful young woman, and a spectacular friend to everyone who knows her. Her morals are not harmed by having two fathers. She is comfortable with our relationship and with her own heterosexuality. She aspires to become a theoretical physicist and perhaps a professor of cosmology. My relationship with my husband is stronger than any of my heterosexual friends' relationships with their spouses. This book is an expression of the ignorance and stupidity of heterosexual conservatives who base their faulted views off of ancient, blatantly violent and contradictory scripture. Heterosexuals' opinions of homosexuality are completely invalid - they are not homosexuals, and have no real knowledge of homosexuality. Marriage is not a Christian institution, nor is love, nor America itself.

THE VALUE OF A BIBLICAL MARRIAGE

james dobsons inexpensive book 'marriage under fire' makes the case that one man one union are indeed being seriously challenged by same sex unions. this book also presents many questains that people have asked over the years and the writer gives sound Biblical awnsers as well as some well documented facts and research. I found this book to be very useful cause it contains some great resources shows how you can make a difference in your community and change things at the ballot box and take a stand for the family. great gift idea for a friend , family member , pastor friend , or soldier serving over seas.

    Helped Me a Bunch

I used this book for my senior project on gay marriage in high school. Believe me, it's helped me out a lot. There were a lot of things i wasn't sure about, and this book cleared them right up. Dr. Dobson is absolutely right.

    Eye opening experince

I have always swore that I would never read any of Dr. Dobsons books b/c I thought he was too conservative. But being a Christian I decided to read this book and I agreed with everything Dobson said. He does not use hate speech or comdemn gays, he simply states his opinion on the matter and provided some practical reasons as to why. Reccommend this book highly

helped me understand the issues a littler better

Prior to reading this book, I had no idea of the agenda surrounding the gay rights movement. I'm of the age that reads magazines like Seventeen and Teen People, both of which tell people my age that gay marriage is perfectly okay, and that people who oppose it are homophobic right wingers. Boy, this book was an eye opener. I was especially appalled by the section detailing what happened to the author's workplace, which was trashed very severely by gay rights activists akin to the way some people treat Planned Parenthood clinics. The state I live in has made several laws against gay marriage much to the chagrin of the fledgling gay community in my area. This book serves as a good introductory text on the gay rights matter. I had no idea about what was going on in Canada or the Netherlands, either, or about the decay in these countries after adopting gay marriage and have to accept other forms of maariage. Read this book if you want to see the other side of the debate, the side you won't see in the media.
