Overview

Former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres shares her secrets for a happy, fulfilling life after divorce.

After her divorce from superstar singer Marc Anthony, Dayanara Torres learned firsthand how to handle the challenges of starting over and creating a healthy environment for her two sons and herself. The most important lesson she learned is that the commitment a woman makes to herself is just as important as the commitment she makes to her spouse on their wedding day. Dayanara vowed to honor and respect herself, and in Married to Me she helps other women do the same.

Dayanara walks women through the critical stages of redefining life after a marriage ends: accepting, rebuilding, and rediscovering happiness and the self. With compassion and encouragement, she offers honest advice, personal mantras, and insightful tips on family, lifestyle, beauty, and health—so that women can move beyond the pain, set a new family dynamic, discover new passions, and build new relationships. Like Dayanara, readers will discover a life after divorce that is beyond their wildest dreams.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Former Miss Universe Torres, with a big assist from sister Jinny (a "mental health counselor with several degrees"), delivers a well-written guide to post-divorce recovery; the famous ex of singer Marc Anthony isn't remarkably original in her debut, but she is interesting and helpful. Jinny features prominently, frequently interjecting advice and explanation alongside Torres's narrative; as a team, their information is direct, practical and easy to follow. Fans of Marc Anthony won't find any dish here; Torres mentions him infrequently and only as "my ex-husband." Despite predictable content-reviewing the stages of grief, learning to forgive, accept and understand yourself-her sincere feeling and camaraderie will make readers feel warm and welcome (even if she occasionally goes a bit too far, as in 15 pages of letters from her "friends" about their own break-ups).

I almost read the entire book in one sit down. I was fascinated by the humor twist in such a serious topic. I've been married for 7 years, gone through so much but first 5 years were not 'happily'. This book is so encouraging I now recommend it to all my friends. PLEASE!!! I NEED A COUPLE IN SPANISH!!!

I loved this book, a few years ago I went through a divorce I had been in this relationship for 7 years during the first 5 years it was a complete roller coaster I went to heaven then hell then back the last 2 years of our relationship were the best ones but everything we had gone through the cheating the lying was always in the back of my head and eventually that ended our relationship, I was 24 years old with a toddler, no job, no husband, no hope, and my mother bought this book for me I read it on 1 sit and just couldn't stop reading it over and over it helped me understand what I was going through and it helped me find myself . This book was lie changing!
