Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Amy McMillan
Have you ever wondered what would happen if your dog got sucked into your laptop? Well, that is exactly what happens to poor Martha and since she is also a talking dog, she would be happy to tell you all about it. Adapted from the TV series (which is based on the picture books by Susan Meddaugh), these six short stories tell of Martha's adventures with her friends in cyber space, solving the mystery of a local meat theft, fighting robots and more. Brightly colored, detailed panels fill every inch of space while white speech bubbles stand out for clear reading. Back matter includes instructions for creating your own comic strip, ideas to get you started, and some characters to trace and draw. The stories are incredibly far-fetched but fans of the characters will enjoy finding them in yet another medium. They are also great for those picture book readers who are transitioning to chapter books. Reviewer: Amy McMillan
