VOYA - Voya Reviews
Federov, center for the Detroit Red Wings, and Brodeur, goalie for the New Jersey Devils, are two prominent players in today's National Hockey League. The books in the Ice Hockey Legend series typically begin with a significant current event in the career of the player, then briefly go back to the player's childhood before taking the reader forward. The focus of the books in this series is hockey, rather than the personal life of the player. Readers who are familiar with hockey terms will have no trouble understanding the text, although a glossary of basic terms, such as "crease" and "hat-trick," would have been helpful to readers unfamiliar with the game. The photographs, most often game shots, lend excitement to the text, and though their quality might vary, their energy does not. The chronology and statistical information in the back of each book gives easy access to quick facts. These books will be most enjoyed by readers who either play hockey or are fans of the game. Other new players featured in the Ice Hockey Legends series include John LeClair of the Philadelphia Flyers, Peter Forsberg of the Colorado Avalanche, Paul Kariya of the Mighty Ducks, and Dominik Hasek of the Buffalo Sabres.
