This book takes the reader back to the late 1700's when Van Buren was born and describes his upbringing, how his interest in politics was developed, how he lived with his wife and children until she died at an early age, the impact he made on various political figures and how they supported him, his many downfalls and failures to provide for the American people while he was U.S. President, how he lived after his term was complete, what he did with the remaining portion of his life until his death.
