Desperate to pull his life back from the edge, Hunter throws himself into his job. So, when he's pegged to investigate the suicide of a college professor, he takes to the task with all he has left. In the process, he uncovers more than he bargained for.

Now, framed for murder and running for his life, Hunter finds himself trapped in the middle of an international conspiracy that takes him from the back alleys of Chicago to the white sands of the Caribbean. This is the first book I have ever read by Scott Gamboe. Its my understanding he has only written science fiction before, and that is just not my thing.

In this one, Gamboe, who is in law enforcement himself, sticks to present-day planet earth. He portrays Detective Jim Hunter is an everyman. He is smart, but not a genius; strong, but not superhuman. I apprectiated the fact that he was a guy who gets caught up an a huge mess, and didn't always make the right decision on who to trust (a

This is a great book. This is the first of Scott's books that I read and I love it. I've read all the Spencer books by Robert Parker and this one of Scotts ranks right up there with it. I had trouble putting the "book" down to get things done around the house. I hope he writes another mystery book.

Meet the Author

Scott Gamboe has been a police officer since 1998, where he currently serves as a crime scene investigator. He spent four years as a paratrooper in the army's 82nd Airborne Division, where he took part in the 1989 invasion of Panama, and Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm the following year. He currently resides in Edwards, Illinois, with his wife, Jill, and daughter, Erica.
