School Library Journal - School Library JournalGr 8 Up-These biographies of charismatic religious leaders have great potential, but the efforts fall short. Both authors presume a basic knowledge of Christianity, and unfamiliar words and phrases are used frequently with no definition. Both books (McPherson more so than Eddy) suffer from poor writing, internal inconsistencies, sloppy footnoting, omissions, and errors. Koestler-Grack includes a 55-page appendix of Eddy's writings, totally stultifying and without annotations, making them even more difficult to understand.-Ann W.
