More About This Book

Overview

There is no better way to prepare for the MSA Reading test than to take it!

This practice test book is the perfect preparation tool for the MSA Reading test. It contains four reading mini-tests for warm-up and then two complete full-length MSA Reading tests just like the real MSA Reading tests.

Key Features

- 4 reading mini-tests to ease into test preparation

- 2 complete full-length tests just like the real MSA Reading tests

- Includes multiple-choice and constructed-response questions

- Covers the same skills tested on the state test

- Updated to include questions covering the Common Core standards

- Includes a full answer key and skills list so you can identify missing skills and target revision accordingly

Key Benefits

- Build confidence by using the tests to improve student performance

- Reduce text anxiety by allowing the student to practice taking the test

- Find out what score a student is likely to get before they take the real test

- Use the tests in revision so students develop the skills to answer all types of reading questions

- Use the first test to identify weaknesses, revise key areas, and then take the second test to see the results improve

- Help students transition to the new skills and the higher difficulty level of assessments based on the Common Core standards

Transitioning to the Common Core State Standards

The state of Maryland has adopted the Common Core standards. These standards describe what students are expected to know. In 2013-2014, students will be instructed based on these standards and the MSA Reading test will reflect these new standards.

The questions in this book have been developed to reflect the changes in the standards. There is a stronger focus on close reading, using evidence from text, analyzing and evaluating texts, and the questions are more difficult than in the past. The questions cover skills in both the State Curriculum and the new Common Core State Standards. This will introduce students to the new skills, help students transition to the more challenging Common Core standards, and ensure that students are fully prepared for the MSA Reading test.
