Mason Remington fell in love with his little brother's best friend, Gina, when she was still in high school. It seemed they'd found their forever early in life. But somehow it all went wrong. Now--ten years later--Gina's back in town. This time he doesn't intend to let her leave.

Mason spent the years he lost with Gina building a business, breeding and training horses, and helping keep his family's ranch going. Gina threw herself into a life in New York City where she has a career as a photographer…and a fiancé.

Gina needs to sell the ranch where she grew up and move her dad to New York. When she returns to Paradise Valley to finally close that chapter of her life, the last person she wants to see is the man who broke her heart all those years ago.

Mason isn't going to let the only woman he's ever loved walk out of his life forever without explaining what went wrong. He never understood why she left. Now he has one last shot to make her stay.

Meet the Author

Hi, I'm SJ, a coffee addict, lover of chocolate and drinker of good red wines. I'm a lost soul and a hopeless romantic. Reading and writing are necessary parts of who I am. Though perhaps not as necessary as coffee! I can drink coffee without writing, but I can't write without coffee.

I grew up loving romance novels, my first boyfriends were book boyfriends, but life intervened, as it tends to do, and I wandered down the paths of non fiction for many years. My life changed completely a couple of years ago and I returned to Romance to find my escape.

I write 'Sweet N Steamy' stories because to me there is enough angst and darkness in real life. My favorite romances are happy escapes with a focus on fun, friendships and happily-ever-afters, just like the ones I write.

These days I live in beautiful Montana, the last best place. If I'm not reading or writing you'll find me just down the road in the park - Yellowstone. I have deer, eagles and the occasional bear for company, and I like it that way :0)

SJ McCoy is a new author to me. I found that most cowboy romances had he-men loving women to protect them. Strong women learned to deal with their men, and that was a fun, sexy romance. SJ took that premise and turned it upside down. What does a cowboy do when he loves a strong woman who needs to be free to love him, not NEED to love him? This is not a cliffhanger. You can trust SJ to take you to unchartered waters. I have never read her other books, so I kept checking the page count, in fear that I would be left facing a cliff and being angry. This story is about the basis of love. Is there love when there is no trust? Is there love when there is need and want, but no emotional expressions? How strong does love have to be to survive lies if you fear to ask the hard questions? How can love grow and mature when two people are not communicating? Trust SJ to answer these questions for her characters in her story. She does it so well.

Ok a new series from SJ I thought after the Summer Lake series where will I find a new good series, well right here!!! Yesterday evening I found this wonderful surprise in my mailbox and as usual I couldn’t wait to start reading it.  People ask me sometimes how you can get so addicted to these books. Well it’s how the way it’s written; you can feel the passion when you start to read and you can also feel how much feeling and work the author has put in this book herself.  So thank you SJ for getting me hooked up on your stories :o) So do like I did an start this new series NOW you won't be disappointed, hell you will be like me and start sending SPAM to SJ for the second book !!!

The stpry was fabulous! Characters were well developed, plot was good, and everything was great! Totally fell in love with the story... but the end felt rushed. After 200 pages of fabulous, a quick ending in 15 pages wasn't qhat I was hoping for. Would recommend it to others, and am even considering the purchase of the rest of the series.

Okay, so she over heard a conversation. But instead of talking to anyone she runs away. Now she is back. He still loves and wants her. He still doesn't know why she left. The problem is can either of them grow up and learn to talk to each other?

Not even a third through, and I'm dumping this; no story, other than a guy who won't take no for an answer but keeps forcing himself on a girl who thinks it's okay to be violated. After a while, one must leave the port a potty!

Just when I was ready to smack people around for not talking to each other (one of my bigger pet peeves) they'd come around and talk, and then something new would crop up. In that way it was less predictable than I'd first thought it might be. I liked this story. It was well written and I could see the growth of Mason and Gina as the novel progressed. Not to give anything away, I'll just say that the struggle felt real, and the character's emotional bravery moved me. It didn't wring quite the same emotion out of me like the Summer Lake books, which is why Mason is short a star. Probably only half a star, though. SJ has written another fine novel. I look forward to more Remington Ranch books. ***ARC provided for honest review***

4.5 Sweet and Steamy Stars - Favorite Quotes: “He’d been her first. “He’d told her he intended to be her last. That she was his and always would be.” “He hadn’t even asked her to marry him. It had come up when he was helping her go through her books… He’d told her that they would both gain a significant tax break if they filed as married. And that, for Liam at least, had been all it had taken to determine that they should – and would – get married.” “Harsh as it was, this environment shaped them and defined them. And just like the junipers, transplanting them elsewhere would slowly kill them. At least that is how he felt.” “You don’t love him, you love who you want him to be.” “She kissed him as though she’d never forgotten how, as though the years in between them had never existed.” “It felt right and familiar, yet new and exciting all at the same time.” My Review: I adore SJ McCoy’s writing style and plot lines, having read and delighted in most of her Summer Lake series. Her stories are comfortable, easy to follow, insightful, deliciously steamy, and good for my heart. Her men are definitely strong, successful, multi-talented, and take-charge alphas, yet they are also thoughtful, tender, caring, and love their women deeply. Mason is my new BBF, and I can’t imagine any woman walking away from him, but Gina was being obstinate. I thoroughly enjoyed the contrast between her city boyfriend – Liam - and Mason. Ms. McCoy’s books often involve second and third chances at love, with protagonists who are trying to pull together and enjoy each other - rather than engaging in constant battle and high angst. I was definitely in need of something lighter and softer, and Mason was a perfect fit, just like a large glass of my favorite wine. And while I look forward to more of her Montana adventures, I think it is high time for a return trip to Summer Lake to check on some of Ms. McCoy’s other friends, it has been far too long, and I have missed this feeling of comfort and ease while reading.

Who doesn't love a hot cowboy who is loving and loyal to a fault? I know I sure do!

This book was all over the place. It had too many characters, you lost track of the main characters . The writer was too focused trying to sell the next book of the series, they took away from the storyline. It had no romance and i did not feel chemistry between the main couple, only raunchy sex. And seriously, who says having sex in the back bed of a pickup truck is romantic? That is so trashy and unclassy!!!
