Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

Pundits tell us that all history is local, but for most of us, the story of America has been reduced to a generalized tableau of a few major events. One way to regain the focus that we have lost is to open yourself to the experience of Vincent Virga's momentous state-specific Library of Congress map series. Drawing on the unrivaled archives of that venerable institution, Virga selected fifty full-color historical maps of each state that offer a vivid graphic sense of developments and the passage of time. Each volume contains essays on the state's history and informative map captions. History so close you can touch it with your fingers. [SCANNED CONNECTICUT. NO COVER FOR MASSACHUSETTS.]
