The Master Cleanser: With Special Needs and Problems

Interesting book. Originally published in 1976, it's short and sweet- and actually held together by two staples. Readers may also know this "master cleansing" diet and "the lemonade diet." Having said that....

What do you do? Drink 6-12 glasses a day of a concoction made up of lemon or lime juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and water. No other foods should betaken during ther full period of the diet.

What's it's purpose? to dissolve and eliminate toxins that have formed in any part of the body

When do you use it? According to the book, when sickness has developed-good for all acute and chronic conditions.

How often? For a minimum of 10 days and up to 40 days and beyond in serious cases. Good to do 3-4 x year.

The book ends with a list of suggested natural aids (such as coconut oil or oil of clove) for various "minor inconveniences" (such as warts, dandruff). A book not to be missed by hardcore detoxifiers, its not for the faint of heart. Other self-help books I enjoyed include The 5-Minute Plantar Fasciitis Solution.

Great Cleansing Plan, TERRIBLE BOOK

I am doing this cleanse as i write this, and i must say that it WORKS! Anyone who is not a believer in detox regimes is a fool, a very toxin-full fool. Even if you are a little skeptical, what the heck? Just TRY IT! And THEN you can have an opinion about whether or not it works. While to some, the ingredients seem random, look up their nutrient content! That's what i did! And you will find that not only the maple syrup and the lemons are nutrient-rich, but the cayenne pepper is known to have positive effects on a variety of the body's systems. For some quick info on the properties of any of these ingredients, you can visit http://whfoods.com/foodstoc.php. It's World's Healthiest Foods' list of foods. They have some great info on lots of fruits, veggies, etc. too!

While i absolutely LOVE this natural detox plan, and am TOTALLY AGAINST any prepackaged detox system that some company is trying to scam you into buying, i really WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. I read this book cover to cover and while this guy is right about a few things he discusses, like the nutrients in the ingredients, and what they do to your body, he has some really weird and WRONG ideas about a lot of things which i dont even want to mention.

It is not the author you should trust, but the millions of people who can give their testimonies to the plan's effects and benefits. I recommend going to therawfoodsite.com/forum where you can talk to people on the diet, people who have done it before, etc. You can find answers to anything you want to know on the forum, and while doing the cleanse, can ask questions about any concerns you might have about what is happening, because trust me, you WILL have questions! This is by no means an easy cleanse! I was completely thrilled and mentally prepared for this, and i gotta say, it is a struggle to trudge through this!

Dont do this if you want to lose weight! While you WILL lose weight, if you do not change your lifestyle with respect to your eating habits, YOU WILL GAIN IT ALL BACK! I personally could never become vegetarian or vegan like many of those who do this cleanse, and if you are like me, but want to be healthy and fit, i recommend reading THE ANTI AGING PLAN by Dr. Roy Walford. That book, will CHANGE YOUR LIFE! Plus its a great source for healthy recipes!

So if you're interested in this cleanse at all, get the recipe offline and check up on the forum for any questions. If you are completely against it, implore you to TRY IT and let us all know if you are, or are not a changed human being!

AWESOME BOOK

This book is awesome. I used to weigh 160 pounds and I was always tired and sluggish, my complexion was bad, I had high blood pressure, high colestral, a low sex drive and I always retired to bed with a plate of sweets and a glass of milk or icecream. I have been on the lemonade diet for 11 days and already I feel FANTASTIC. My complexion is clearing up, my bloodpressure is fine and my sex drive is way out of control!!!!!!my boyfriend is begging me to let him sleep.....I have lost 15 pounds already and I'm still losing fast. This is a great diet that cleans your body and gets rid of all it's impurities. My whole body feels rejuvenated. I truly love this diet. I was a smoker(1pack a day). I have sinse quit smoking and believe it or not, I don't crave it......

Great results

I've been on this program for over a week now and feel great! Not to mention that I've lost a lot of weight, althoug that could only be temporary... My skin seems to be smoother and I have the great feeling of being light and well. I must say that it can be difficult to stay on the program and it requires a lot of will power.

I do like the taste of cayenne pepper in my drinks. It makes them more pleasant to swallow ... If you know someone with a serious disease or addiction make them try this program -- it should bring good results. You will be surprised! Another really GREAT book with all kind of internal cleansing methods is "Can We Live 150 Years?". In fact these two books should be sold in one package.

Wonderful!

I am currently on my second Master Cleanse. Although Stanley Burroughs suggests to do this four times per year. Iw as eager to do it again after only two months. The positives of doing this fast far outweigh the negatives. I get the best night of sleep, and I feel refreshed every morning. I have a lot of energy and still exercise with no trouble. I have such clear thinking and that's been great at work. My skin looks flawless. My acne completely cleared up. I have lost a few pounds. It has changed my relationship with food. I learn to respect it more. Because, I am not eating all the time, I have found plenty of time to do fun activities with my kids or chores that had yet to be done. The negatives would be that I am always cold when doing the fast. Lots of hot showers! Being a wife and mother of three, it is a little hard to cook dinner for my family at night and not eat any of it. My skin feels dirty often, so again lots of showers. Timing of the salt water flush is critical. You don't want to be without a toilet nearby! Overall, this is an amazing fast that has renewed my enjoyment of good, clean food and has taught me patience and relaxation.

Fitness and Beyond

I relized that I was living my life inside of how I felt about my body. I could see how I was not telling the truth about my eating habits and covering up problems and creating conversations from complaints. I was resigned and cynical. I did the diet for 14 days and began to shift in how I was being. Something happened. All cravings left. As my body shaped up my way of being was altered. I began living a life I loved.

Be sure to mentally prepare, it is completely worth it!

The thought of not eating created a struggle for me to start this cleanse. My strength came from the death of my father and brother, both to cancer, in the past 6 months. I have completed multiple days of juice detox in the past, but it did not give the ultimate feeling that the Master Cleanse is giving me now. I am currently on day #6 (long way to go) and it gets easier everyday. The only thing I am not doing is the internal salt water bath. Instead I use a colon cleanser, called OxyPowder, at night and Yerba Mate tea in the morning. This program is working fantastically! My reasons for committing to the cleanse were not for weight loss (although, I have lost 7 lbs), but for a feeling of pureness. I honestly cannot believe the amount of energy and how alive I feel. I even continue to work out on a daily basis. As for nutritionists who mock this system, it's called Western ignorance. Open the mind my friends.

Nothing Like It!!!

For years I have been working out and watching what I eat. Nothing seem to help me to loose weight. I started having problems with my joints, ulcers, headaches, fatigue and other health problems. The 'Master Cleanser' book changed my life. I only did it for 15 days and I lost 20 pounds. I've never felt as good as I do now. I am 41 years old but I feel as if I was on my 20's. My joint and other health problems are gone. I have the energy I haven't had in a long time. This is a must to do cleansing. Specially if you are experiencing helth problems. I keep getting complement after complement from people that know what I looked like before. Thank you Dr. Stanley Burroughs.

The Master Cleanser is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would highly recommend the Master Cleanser!!!!!! My only special need was to lose some weight and feel better about my body. The Master Cleanser did this for me! I went on it a couple of months ago and stayed on it for seven days. I lost fourteen pounds in seven days and felt so in touch with my body. The book is definitely needed so spend the less than $5 bucks to get it. It's so informative and a quick read. I had to get used to the Senna tea and the saltwater flush. You must be near a restroom for the next hour and a half to two hours-especially when drinking the saltwater flush because your body will quickly need to eliminate the toxins. There were times when I felt very weak during the day but the moment I drank the lemonade, the weakness went away. So the key is to always have the lemonade near you and to drink it!!! I then learned to sip the lemonade throughout the day. The breaking of the fast is crucial! I drank freshly squeezed orange juice for two days which was so tasty especially after not having anything else for seven days. I only broke the fast because I got tired of the lemonade. Otherwise, I would have stayed on it longer. After having the orange juice for two days, I made my first ever vegetable soup which I ate for a few days and loved!!!! It's been two months now and I haven't gained my weight back. I am about to do the lemonade diet for a second time now. I don't want to lose as much as I lost before. I just want to lose a few pounds and see how my skin is changed. I too kept a journal each day and would recommend others to do the same. I have encouraged many friends to do the lemonade diet. A friend of mine has lost close to twenty pounds and her sister has lost sixteen pounds. I have three other friends who are starting it today. My cousin Robby who is a health guru told me about the Master Cleanser. I am so happy he did. He also told me that I neded to see how my body was changing spiritually while on it. He said that my body should be telling me the kinds of foods I should and should not be eating. I hope to connect to my body more in these regards the second time I do it. The best one ever

I have read every available book on fasting. This is a master piece. I couldn't believe how great I fealt after the first 48 hours of fasting. I went clambing a mountain and felt light, relaxed, and energized. Another thing that amazed me was that I did not feel hungry. I kept going to work. I teach 4th grade and have 30 students. The fasting did not make me feel tired or hungry. I did feel light headed a couple of times on the second day, but I also felt very relaxed and happy. I know it is hard to believe; but, I have done many other fasts and never felt this great.

Still Loosing Weight

I have been on this diet off and on since the day I purchased this book in May 2004. Before starting the diet, I weighed 260 lbs., now I weigh 237 lbs. and still counting. I have lost 23 lbs. in less than a month, my goal is to get down to my normal weight of 155 lbs. I have to warn anyone, but it takes great commitment and motivation to follow this diet. Want a new body - do the Master Cleanser

I have done the Master Cleanser off and on for the past 15 years. I have done the cleanser for various reaons. The first was for allergy problems that I had itching under the skin. I went on the cleanser for the 1st time for 10 days and found out that dairy products were the cause of my allergies without having to have shots. I kept a daily diary of what I ate. The second time was because my knee joint hurt when I was walking and became difficult to walk properly. I went on the cleanser again and it healed the knee up during the 10 days. Third time I had a duodual ulcer and was taking medicine for a week and went off it and started the master cleanser. This time I had gone up to 30 days being on it and my body felt completely revived. It's a feeling that one has to experience. You feel like your body can breath again and being reborn. Each day you have more energy, alertness, and calmness. I do not think that the 10 days is enough. After 10 days the cleanser really starts to heal and cleanse your body. Through the years I have gone on it at least once a year for 10-30 days. I recommend this for anyone especially who has health issues. I have also used it for losing weight at times but mostly for health reasons. You will not die from doing this and your body will become new and refreshed again. Give it a try you can always eat. There was only one drawback when starting this and that is one may get a headache really bad on the seond or third day. Try to get through it and once you do it will be very rewarding thereafter. The headache sometimes can make you very sick. The other problem was that towards the end the elimination is sometimes very watery and can cause accidents. A positive note is that my skin toward the end was elastic back to where it needed to be and my celliutes was gone. Give it a shot, what do you have to lose!

have full health in 10 days

I did the diet for 10 day and must say that I have never felt better in my life. I lost 13 pounds in 7 days and the best thing was that I added more maple syrup on day 8 and balanced my weight. I had more energy on the diet than before which allowed me to work and function. The mucus that came out of me was discusting but i'm glad that it is out of me. It has elimenated my cravings for cigarettes and made me appreciate whole organic foods. Thank you Mr. Burroughs for changing my life the lord will reward you.

Promotes Junk Science as a Substitute for Nutritional and Biological Fact

The regimen advocated by this book is not only a con job, it's also very unhealthy. The only way to truly stay healthy is to eat properly and not by drinking lemonade and attempting to remove healthy organisms from the digestive system. If you are foolish enough to follow the advice in this book I have a rich Uncle in Nigeria who needs help getting his money out of the country to tell you about...

Great Program for Cleansing and Reducing

After hearing about the Master Cleanser for a while, I decided to try it. I have done many fasts (water, juice, etc.) so I was eager to see how it differed, given the rave reviews from so many. Well, it was verey remarkable, extremely effective and actually enjoyable. The drink was tasty and eliminated hunger. The saltwater flush in the morning felt very liberating (so to speak) and worked well. In general, this book and the plan is highly recommended for anyone who wants to do a substantiual fast and cleanse, without much difficulty. There is also a mysterious motivation associated with this plan, as I found it quite exciting and emotionally helpful to be a member of the 'lemonade brigade', the many who have and are now doing the plan. Really Excellent!!
