Overview

Zhou Yu is an internationally acclaimed Chinese erhu player. He has received numerous awards and prizes, and has performed in such countries as Romania, Hungary, Russia, Japan, and England. He is also a composer; his piece "Homeland Homeland" can be heard on his CD of the same name, also on the ARC Music label. The erhu is an enchanting Chinese two-stringed fiddle. The strings were originally made of silk, but not long ago they were changed to metal, thus giving the instrument much greater musical versatility. Zhou Yu's great talent takes full advantage of the musical possibilities and delicate sound of this exquisite instrument. He is accompanied either by traditional Chinese or Western orchestras, and reveals his talent by ending with a gypsy piece. Highly recommended. ~ Bruno Deschenes
