Editorial Reviews

About.com
"The subtitle of this book is quite accurate; much of the advice given throughout its six chapters is practical in nature, exactly the kind of help I find most useful."--(Edward Scimia)
British Chess Magazine
"You would never guess that he was so young when he wrote it as it is imbued with a great deal of understanding of the game and expressed in good, plain English."--(John Saunders)
Chess Life
"It's a very good book - exceptionally instructive, full of practical advice that every chess player needs to pay attention to in order to get better."--(Pete Tamburro)
ChessCafe
"An easy-to-read text (..) Each game is carefully annotated, with more prose than variations (..) Especially important points are set aside in bold print, and chapter or sub-chapter summaries are structured in bold print within a gray box, for easy review of lessons just presented (..) This text should be helpful to virtually all class players."--(Steve Goldberg)
ChessVibes
"It may well be one of the best books ever written on positional chess (..) Extremely well written, carefully selected examples showing the whole range of positional aspects of a particular theme."--(Arne Moll)
VOYA
For many kids who want to learn how to play chess, the task may seem a little daunting. What are the pieces? What are the moves? Naroditsky, a junior world champion who is only fourteen years old, delves into the world of positional chess. He is the youngest author to have published a book on the subject of chess. The book begins with a forward written by the author's parents detailing his vast knowledge of chess that he began at the tender age of six-and-a-half. Every chapter focuses on a different aspect of playing the game. For example, one of the chapters simply deals with defense and how a player can make a comeback. The author uses many pictures to show positions of the pieces and different moves required to win. There is fabulous dialogue in the different scenarios cited. Each chapter also contains various chess exercises that the reader can try to solve. The book contains many additional sources of information such as books, websites and periodicals. Although this book is very thorough, it is definitely for the more skilled chess player. Experienced chess players will find it a must read. Reviewer: Robin Guedel
