I picked up this book for a much needed mental vacation day during grad school and I couldn't put it down. I read it in one day. The book is fast-paced, exciting and just flat out fun. Definitely recommend this book as a good way to take your mind off a stressful day of work or other worries! Can't wait to read the next one!

If you are tired of American detective stories that contain nothing but violence, you will find this British mystery series to be a refreshing change. Caroline Banham and her assistant, James Taylor use logic instead of guns to solve crimes. If you like well written detective stories with original characters, this is a great series. The intricate plot is woven with equally intricate and authentic descriptions of London and the English countryside. The characters seem to be based on a melange of pop culture heros, spanning several decades-- which adds to the mystery. The main character, strikes me as a combination of Kate Moss and Edie Sedgwick.
