Masters of Jazz, Vol. 10

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Scott Yanow
The third of Storyville's three LPs reissuing Jack Teagarden's Standard Transcriptions noncommercial recordings which were made purely for radio airplay features his big bands of 1941 and 1944. With the exception of a couple of Teagarden vocals, this is a purely instrumental set with plenty of hot performances from what was really a no-name orchestra. Highpoints include "Shine," "Basin Street Blues," "The Blues," "Fort Knox Jump" and "Chinatown." All of this music has since been issued on two Jass CDs.
