Overview

When fire ravages Wyoming land, fireweed is among the first plants to return, brightening the blighted area with the joy of its blooms. Small-town lawyer Taylor Anne Larsen faces the challenge of doing the same for the pain-ravaged heart and disbelieving soul of ranch foreman Cal Ruskoff.

Armed with the same grace and grit as the wildflower fireweed, Taylor also has allies – a matchmaking friend, the Wyoming winter, high-octane mutual attraction, and a rescued puppy who slips past Cal's defenses.

Cal might give in to passion temporarily, but from behind the wall he's built around his past and his secrets, he's certain Taylor is all that he can't let himself have. ... And he'll use all his weapons to keep her out.

"These characters -- their dialogue, their fears, their complex personalities -- are very real. As a reader, I couldn't help fall under Cal's spell -- a good, troubled, mixed-up man who forces Taylor to confront some of her own demons, even as he refuses to face his own . . . There's a lot of subtle -- and not so subtle -- humor here, the lovescenes are at once tender and sizzling, and the emotions and fears of both characters wrap themselves around the reader's heart and don't let go." – Karen Templeton, 5-Star review

"...had me laughing one minute, teary-eyed the next and dreading the last page to arrive. She has a rare talent of whisking you into the lives of her characters with such clarity that you feel you are actually there...and you don't want it to end." - 5-Star Review

    fun to read ranch romance

Perhaps it is because she is so happy being married to her beloved Dave. Matty Brennan Currick sets up attorney Taylor Larson and Cal Ruskoff into sharing two kisses. However since the New Year¿s Eve kisses, Cal has avoided Taylor as if she has the plague.
Matty cons Taylor into bringing a rescued canine to Cal, who is alone at the Flying W Ranch. However, Matty never expected the blizzard that socked her part of Wyoming would leave her alone with the hermit. Soon love blossoms between the duo but the misanthrope has a past that he allows to wreck their chance at happiness.
MATCH MADE IN WYOMING is a fun to read ranch romance that works in spite of the overused gimmick of stranded together due to inclement weather because of the cast. The return of Matty and Dave (see ALMOST A BRIDE) feels like a two-person welcoming committee. Taylor is a Buckeye turned Wyoming wildflower. Between her epiphany ¿It¿s as simple as you make it¿, her adulation of Atticus Finch, and her love for Cal, she is a wonderful character. While silent Cal does not deserve Taylor, readers will empathize with his plight. Though the story line is a bit thin, Patricia McLinn has written an enjoyable tale with endearing characters.
Harriet Klausner
