Description:This is the second edition of textbook covering math and dosage calculations for healthcare.
Purpose:The purpose is to teach math and basic dosage calculations to healthcare professionals.
Audience:It is intended for pharmacy technicians, medical assistants, nurses, and paramedics. Although it is not the author's intention, the book is not advanced enough for pharmacy or medical students/professionals. The authors are both professionals in pharmacy and nursing.
Features:The numerous quality illustrations, actual product labels, and example calculations the book uses are invaluable to the reader. An interactive CD-ROM is also included to help review the skills learned in each chapter. At the end of the book are four handy index cards that easily fit into one's pocket for reference when doing calculations.
Assessment:This book would be a valuable resource for healthcare professionals who need to calculate the amount of medication they should administer to patients. It is well written, easy to understand, and of high quality.
