Math in Bite-Sized Chunks
Math has an intimidating reputation, but a good grasp of mathematical principles is key to understanding the world around us. In this enlightening book Chris Waring proves that it’s easy to make math not only accessible but actually entertaining. Each chapter covers key topics and big ideas, demonstrating how to master them with worked-through problems and examples from the real world. You’ll read stories of how mathematical errors have led to embarrassment, comedy and tragedy, as well as short biographies of mathematicians you should know. Never overly technical, Math in Bite-sized Chunks also shows how the study of math overlaps with computer science, physics and economics, and includes anecdotes about how important discoveries were made. There’s something for everyone in this book, from basic arithmetic to imaginary numbers, and from Pythagoras’ Theorem to theoretical probability.
