Overview

The inside story of the new Doctor and his rapid rise to stardom

As the 11th incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who, and the youngest actor ever to play the role, Matt Smith has taken TV audiences by storm. This biography fills fans in on the newcomer. It covers the early years of the aspiring youth footballer, who switched to studying drama and creative writing after a back injury. An outstanding 2003 performance in the National Youth Theatre production of The Master and Margarita brought him to the attention of an agent and earned him his first professional acting jobs. Smith's first television appearance, in the 2006 BBC adaptation of Phillip Pullman's Ruby in the Smoke, was followed by first major role as Danny in Party Animals a year later. 2007 also saw him debut in the West End, starring in Fresh Kills and a critically acclaimed performance in That Face. But Smith's biggest break was to be cast in Doctor Who, first appearing in the show in January 2010. Replacing the much-loved David Tennant was no mean feat for a relatively unknown actor like Matt Smith but he has risen to the challenge and received rave reviews from critics and viewers alike for his quirky, offbeat take of the famous Time Lord.

    Smiles?

Hve you ever just noticed that every time he smiles,he really looks kind of creepyish. And then he rubs his hands togeher and looks even creepier. But the thing i really dont get is why dos he hunch his back over. Seriously like that makes him look like hes gonna murder someone. The smiles, the hands, annd the hunch are just creepy all together. Im not being rude to him or anyhing. I acually really do like him, hes the doctor that really catches that "madman in a blue box"feeling. Probably because of the hands smile annd hunch thing. Oh yeah, maybe a little bit because of like the way he talks. In truth, hes funny a good actor and is awesome in summary. So yeah. Oh whats that? What did you say? No its not bowties are cool.

Correction to the Doctor Who timeline

When John Hurt regenerated to Christopher Eccleston at the end of "The Day of the Doctor", this unofficialy made the War Doctor the 9th Doctor. As a result, Christopher Eccleston is technically the 10th Doctor, David Tennant is technicaly the 11th Doctor, Matt Smith is unofficialy the 12th Doctor, and Peter Capaldi is technicaly the 13th, and ultimately, last Doctor.

NONE OF YOU ARE TRUE WHOVIANS!!!

Saying that you love Matt Smith and David Tennant and reciting quotes from the series, but saying tht you hate Peter Capaldi just bacause he's probably older than 50 does not make you true whovians! It makes you fake! If any of you had seen the season premier, you would have noticed right away that Peter Capaldi is as clever and definately as mad as the rest if not more. Being a whovian means that you don't look at the doctor's appearance, but that you repect them for thier insanity and inteligence. Mainly insanity.
I hope you all have learned something about being a true whovian today. If not, you can go back to your clueless lives as a non-whovian. Bye!

Matt smith david tenant christopher eccleston

Personally i think that these three actors portray the doctor differently. Cristopher was a firce and demanding doctor whereas david tenant was more bodering in the edge of partial insanity and i mean the doctor not the actor. Howevr i think that matt smith really captured the "Madman with a blue box" personality

    To below

What rubbish i bet you say that about every hot guy you dont even know. Yes he is attractive but you are a lier bum on fire. And yo are an ammature.
Annyway hes my favorite doctor and david tennant is cute to. But matt brought good character into the doctor. Amusing clumsiness and whimsical actions and not knowing how to deal with women. Gotta luv the doctor

    To all you 12 haters

If you think Peter Capaldi (12) is too old, either educate yourselves on some Classic Doctor Who, or go back to your Twilight! I'll have you know that he's about the same age as David Tennant! Plus, we've only know him for about 30 secounds, so you have no room to judge him like that yet! You don't even know if he's a good actor or not, so why are you judging him on his age? If you agree with me, then you are better and more mature han those who don't! True Whovians will not be mad that he's old, but tha he's not a ginger!
