Takes your Bible study to another level!

I highly recommend Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible for anyone interested in delving a bit deeper in the Scriptures. Matthew Henry's writings read like prose and are a treasure within themselves.

Excellent resource for EVERY Christian, student or scholar!

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible (MHCC) is one of my favorite resources for my study of God's Word. The only commentary I like better is Henry's Whole Bible Commentary!
This has succinct, clear passages to enrich your study of the Bible, and help you understand it. A MUST for anyone interested in reading the Bible at all.
I completely disagree with the other reviewer: While this book is old (1600's), that logic is flawed which would state that age is a problem--you're reading the Bible, wish is 2-3,000 years old!
Henry's writing is scholarly and insightful, yet does not compromise clarity for even the beginning Bible student.
Matthew Henry had a good education, even studying at Gray's Inn (also attended by the great Francis Bacon, among other notables). He was also a Presbyterian minister for 25 years.
Henry's commentary was "heartily commended" by such famous preachers as Charles Spurgeon and George Whitefield.
I give this book 5 stars, but would give it 10 if I could!

Very Basic Commentary - Good for Beginners

I was being generous when I gave this book two stars. After reading it, I was amazed that it is even carried in bookstores today! The book was copyrighted by Thomas Nelson in 1997, but the commentary was written by a man who died in 1714 and it reflects the basic mentality of a much earlier period! Most Bible students today expect a more scholarly approach.
