Maurice Sendakby Eric Braun
Text and photographs introduce a biography of Maurice Sendak, an author and illustrator of children's books including the famous book, Where the Wild Things Are.
School Library JournalK-Gr 2-In three chapters, these books cover the subjects' childhoods, their entry into their field of writing and/or illustrating, and a bit about their books. On each spread, a full-page photo faces brief, large-print sentences. A cumulative time line that adds dates to events mentioned in the text runs along the bottom. As readers move forward, each time line becomes more complete. There is enough basic information for early report writers, but not enough for students beyond this age range. Libraries and classrooms in which beginning-reader biographies are in demand might consider these titles.-Kathleen Simonetta, Indian Trails Public Library District, Wheeling, IL Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
