Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Naomi Milliner
Meet Max and Maddy Twist, a pair of brother and sister detectives. The siblings' vocation is in the genes. Their parents had run the best detective agency in the country until one of their cases incurred the wrath of the evil Professor Sardine, who was wicked since birth. Ruined by their nemesis, Mr. and Mrs. Twist now run an ice cream parlor. Their offspring, however, fresh from winning the grand Cluedo competition, are just embarking on their first case. It seems someone is taking most of the money out of Swiss banks! With their folks' blessings, the kids fly to Switzerland, where they are astonished to learn that the robbers are, in fact, St. Bernards. Recruiting their own spy St. Bernard, the siblings follow him (and his shifty new owner) to the villains' hideout, and find an even bigger surprise. Will they alert the authorities? Capture him themselves? Outwit him? Avenge their parents? Win a chocolatey reward? You will have to read it to find out! This reissue is a fun tale with clever, likeable heroes. Most of the illustrations were unavailable in this review copy, but the few there were adequate. The chapter titles tend to give away the story, thereby reducing the tension and surprise, but it is still enjoyable to see this resourceful pair of siblings in action.
