Overview

Written by a nationally-recognized Medicare expert, speaker, and Certfified Financial Planner, Maximize Your Medicare explains how Medicare works, and most importantly, the important factors to consider when choosing among the wide variety of choices.

Maximize Your Medicare explains:

• How Medicare works

• Why Medicare is easily misunderstood

• Your rights and options under Medicare

• How private plans (group, Medicare Advantage, Medigap) interact with Medicare

• How to choose the best configuration

• How to avoid pitfalls

Maximize Your Medicare is written in plain-spoken English that everyone can understand. Real-life cases, called “This Happens,” provide examples of situations that can affect Medicare beneficiaries.

Medicare is one of the most important aspects of retirement and financial planning. With over 55,000,000 Medicare beneficiaries, and approximately 10,000 turning 65 every day, the challenges to the system and all parties involved make a thorough understanding an absolute must. Maximize Your Medicare is written for beneficiaries, their families, and all members of their support systems, from medical providers to financial advisors.

While there was some useful information about Medicare, and especially Medigap policies, this book was poorly written and apparently not copy-edited. The author makes a case for carefully considering a Medigap rather than a Medicare Advantage policy. Certainly most people should consider both, and I do credit author Jae Oh with pointing this out in some detail. The Web site mentioned in the book did not exist.
