Overview

Focuses on practical, everyday goals: Many books on weightlifting are oriented towards the goal of increasing muscle size. Maximum Strength explains why substituting this with a superior goal of boosting muscle strength results in better health and performance and makes working out more fun, rewarding, and time-efficient. The innovative training program culminates in a set of five maximum strength tests designed to show exactly how much strength has been gained (the same five tests are performed at the beginning of the program). The book also provides tips on nutrition and motivation and lots of inspiring real examples of men who have achieved great success already on the Maximum Strength program.

Offers a complete strength-training system: Maximum Strength is a comprehensive resource for men looking to have some “go” with their show. The program offers much more than classic bodybuilding training; rather, it includes mobility and speed work to enhance athleticism, a wide variety of rep ranges to train difference fitness qualities, soft tissue work to prevent injuries and correct imbalances, energy systems training to shed body fat and improve health, and nutritional recommendations for a complete system to make men stronger, leaner, faster, muscular, flexible, and healthy.

this is a great book to read if your into sports and fitness. i picked this book for a free reading project in mrs. Rosencrans class and to get a grade for the project i have to write a book review but also to see if it worked. In this book you learn about how to get a strong body and focus when u lifting. I am on the football team at my high school and I found that this book is realy helpful with lifting in the weightroom after practices. The book teaches you how to get your mind ready to lift and the best ways to do it. As a pro lifter he knows alot on how to lift and whats easyer for a person whos never lifted before. if you work your hardest and do ever thing he tells you to, you will see resaults at the end, i did and i am still doing the samethings now and i cant wait for next year in football because of how much stronger i got. after doing every thing in the book i found that the sguats are the hardest thing to do because im so tall but i think anyone who tries the work will be challanged and will be rewarded at the end. so give this book a chance and push yourself and do it and get stronger!

Maximum Strength, written by Eric Cressey, is not only a book, but a program to help build muscle. Exercises and tips coming from one of the most well known power lifters and strength coaches from across America will increase your muscle mass as well as strength. Cressey includes tips for your mind, like time efficiency and ways to keep motivated, as well as exercises like the box squat and dead lift. I read this book because I am doing an ethnography project on female body builders and their diets. I chose this book because of its relations to the movements and exercises body builders do to put on mass. This book did not help with diets, but it helped my understanding of the workouts they do for their bodies.
