Publishers Weekly
Drawing heavily from the core principles of the popular text A Course in Miracles, Bernstein has developed a six-week “mind cleanse” plan that shifts thought patterns from fear to love. She delightfully warns readers that pursuing this plan may cause miracles, explaining that “each moment you choose love over fear is a miracle.” Divided into six chapters, one for each week, the book guides readers through simple but effective daily exercises and practices that progressively build the mental muscles for gratitude, forgiveness, and love—the core precepts for living a miraculous life. The author discovered firsthand that such subtle shifts in thinking don’t necessarily change what happens to you in life, but will change how you experience what happens. In turn, these inner shifts allow us to have a greater effect in our society and may even inspire us to become a “miracle worker in the world.” Spiritual seekers of any stripe can benefit from following this perky and pragmatic plan outlining a path for radical change—one of transforming fear into love—and perhaps discover lasting happiness along the path. This past month I got to read May Cause Miracles, the latest book by Gabrielle Bernstein. And it’s good…really, really good. You see, like Gabby, I am a student of A Course in Miracles. I am committed to a daily practice of love and forgiveness for myself and everyone I meet. It ain’t easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding. This work lights me up, makes me breathe a little deeper and spurs me on to spread the word! The subtitle of May Cause Miracles is: A 40-Day Guidebook of Subtle Shifts for Radical Change and Unlimited Happiness. Oh yes it is! I cannot say enough about how this book is laid out. It’s gentle, helpful and practical. Each day has a Morning Reflection, an Evening Exercise, an Affirmation and meditation with prayers and stories woven beautifully throughout. You can do this. Anyone can do this! Gabby’s writing is like that of an older sister’s who is reaching a hand to us as if to say: “I’ve been where you are and I can help.” All we need is willingness. And as Gabby says in the book, “A daily practice of willingness is our greatest guide to truthful forgiveness and release.” Some of my favourite parts of the book: Day 5′s affirmation: I forgive myself for choosing fear. Today I choose love instead. ALL OF WEEK 3 (Body Image) Day 24′s affirmation: Kindness created me kind. Day 29′s affirmation: I am not my lack mentality. Gabrielle sticks to the Course in a helpful and consistent manner. Her openness with her own struggles and the other stories she shares serve to illustrate that THIS STUFF WORKS. And it does. It really does. The world we see is not one of love and peace, but it can be. We can choose again. We can let go of all our fears and embrace something better, something truer. May Cause Miracles can help us do that. But like I said before, this work takes willingness. So buy this book, borrow it from the library, ask a friend to loan it to you because if you feel drawn to this kind of change then this is a perfect place to start. There were so many instances through this book where I found myself shouting, “Yes!!! Exactly!!!” A Course in Miracles is daunting, but the principles are, in my experience, key to finding any kind of peace. May Cause Miracles introduces you to these principles. It opens you up, softens you and reminds you who you really are and what you are capable of. You are a miracle worker. And once you start, you won’t be able to stop because miracle mindedness is just better. It just is.

I bought this at the suggestion of my sister and we were going to go through it together. She gave up on it about 1/2 - 2/3 of the way into it. I slogged through, hopeful that it might get better - There were a couple of points that were interesting but even not having gone through anything else by this author it seemed clear to me that it was just more of the same that she's said before. Her constant references to "A Course In Miracles" made one think, why waste time on could do that or something else of similar quality. There are so many high quality, well written and effective books, programs and material available for those that really want to make some changes that I would highly recommend exploring them before this one. I have read other reviews here on this book and find that many were written prior to or almost immediately when the book was published. My guess would be that they are not unbiased or natural reviews. :) Thank you - I would leave my name, however, B&N system is not allowing a name, just "Anonymous" for some reason. :(

This book arrived at the PERFECT time!! I was looking for a fresh start and some spiritual help along the way, and May Cause Miracles not only gave me that but, Gabrielle has outlined what i can do to support these changes on a DAILY basis.  She has done all the leg work - all i need to do is follow these simple guidelines!! Finally!! A book that will help keep me on track with my intentions and goals. I love the wit, the humor, the lessons and the inspiration. This book really speaks to me and has gotten me TRULY motivated and has made me realize that this is doable. We can get out of fear mode and into love by taking simple daily steps until we are reprogramed back to that natural state! Gabrielle Bernstein has done it AGAIN! I am beyond grateful for this book and excited for the miracles to begin unfolding!!

I love Gabrielle Bernstein and her work, but I have mixed feelings about this book. I feel she made an honest attempt to be of service with it, but I feel she skims over A Course in Miracles in all of her books, and that her material (in this book and her previous two) should only be read as supplements while thoroughly studying A Course in Miracles itself. There is so, so much more to the Course, and people who are serious about studying it and applying it to their lives should focus on that first, and add Gabrielle's wonderful books to the experience. My favorite book of hers is "Spirit Junkie" because it put a human face to working with the Course, and I could empathize with a lot of what she went through. "May Cause Miracles" reminds me too much of "Add More ~Ing".

Gabrielle Bernstein's writing style makes this book a joy to read and easy to understand. The concepts in this book are based on A Course In Miracles.Even if the reader is not familiar with the teachings of the course they will definately benefit from the Gabby's teachings about forgiveness and getting in touch with one's inner guide(which she playfully refers to as one's "ing")I highly recommend this to book to anyone who wants to let go of hurts from the past and learn how to turn them into lessons of love and understanding. This book lives up to it's name!!

Gabby Bernstein has done it again! Her way of spreading the miracle-y-ed-minded love is exceptional... I truly believe this book- this radical, gentle, forgiving, fiercely-loving book, is going to help guide & revolutionize the way many of us perceive not only ourselves, but the world that surrounds us. I got this book about 4 weeks ago when I was searching for books to help with forgiveness. I wanted to start living the life of my dreams while being wholehearted and authentically me. I am so glad I purchased this book as I feel like it has transformed my internal dialogue to be more positive. Bernstein is clearly a student of A Course of Miracles and it shows throughout the book. This book is outlined as a 6 week course and each week has a theme or focus. For example, the focus of week 3 is your body. Within each week, there is a pattern which makes it easy to anticipate what is coming and take the pattern with you long after you've finished the book. Thursdays are focused on gratitude and Fridays are focused on forgiveness. Each day has 3 parts to it. In the morning, you read about 1-2 pages and then meditate for 1 minute. Bernstein then gives you an affirmation to carry with you each day and repeat throughout the day. At night, you meditate or journal or both. It's an easy pattern to fall into which is the point. After 42 days of this, you should be able to use this pattern for your life. I have noticed a considerable change in my thoughts and feelings towards myself and others. I find myself more patient and kinder to myself. Each day is a small shift towards positive energy and a brighter future. I am about halfway through the book and so far I have been very pleased with the exercises and results. I have already recommended this book to several people and would recommend it to anyone trying to get their life on track.

This book refers to The Course of Miracles so often it seemss it should be read first. The author constantly quotes the "Course" and it's contents. VERY UNORIGINAL and boring. Would not recommend.
