Maddie Springer is finally walking down the aisle with the man of her dreams. And she's got the perfect wedding planner to pull it all off in style. Well, perfect, that is, until the woman winds up dead - murdered in buttercream icing. Suddenly Maddie's hope of a dream wedding melts faster than an ice sculpture at an outdoor buffet. Very predictable

I honestly can't say too much about this novel other than it's predictable. My main critique is about Maddie and Ramirez. I can't believe the two of them are getting married. There's absolutely nothing between the two of them other than sex. I know that this is supposed to be a suspense novel, but in the four prior books there hasn't been a scene that they even act remotely civil to each other, well other than the ones they're naked and in bed and Ramirez bailing her out of jail. I also have to say that isn't marriage built on trust? What point of the novel has Maddie ever been truthful to Ramirez? She always says one thing and then goes and does another. I don't understand how magically they just end up together.

    it's OOKKKAY

A LOT of people rave about this series but I am in book 4 and I cannot take Maddy anymore... If i was Jack I would so drop her butt..NOT marry her! He is constantly asking her "promise me blah blah blah" and then turns around and does it because her fingers were crossed behind her back or whatever...sounds like my kids.

Great series! Start with the 1st it is so much nicer than reading out of order.

Halliday is great if you want to just read a lighthearted story. I love Stephanie Plum series and this is along the same lines. Love the main character. Only draw back is there are not more! Please write some more adventures for Maddie!

    The usual madcap amusing investigation

Los Angeles Homicide Detective Jack Ramirez and shoe designer Maddie Springer were in Paris causing the usual MAYHEM IN HIGH HEELS (see ALIBI IN HIGH HEELS) when he proposed and she accepted. Maddie expected nuptial problems from her mom, but did not anticipate wanting to name a hemorrhoid after her. Mom wants to invite half the planet including people neither Maddie nor mom have spoken with in the last decade or so.

To keep the ceremony under control and not need the Coliseum, Maddie hires wedding planner Gigi Van Doren to take care of the gala, but especially to run interference with her mom. Maddie and Jack arrive to test taste their wedding cake in Gigi¿s Beverly Hills studio; only instead of a sweet and a planner they find a corpse. Someone stabbed Gigi in the back leaving her face buried in the butter cream frosting. Maddie's friends Dana and Marco replace Gigi as the planners while Jack leads the official investigation into the murder. Maddie knows when he works a case he has tunnel vision so to insure he makes it to the ceremony, if for no other reason than not having to explain otherwise to the mother of the bride from hell, she decides to solve the case assisted by her new wedding planners.

The fifth "High Heels' amateur sleuth tale ( see ALIBI IN HIGH HEELS , KILLER IN HIGH HEELS, SPYING IN HIGH HEELS and UNDERCOVER IN HIGH HEELS) is the usual madcap amusing investigation.. As always Maddie's chick lit big mouth manages to get her into trouble with the cops. However, much of the amusing asides come from mom who wants her daughter¿s nuptial to be the wedding of the century rivaling last century¿s biggest one, Luke and Laura. Although the usual dueling homicide investigations (amateur and professional) are a bit thin, fans of the series will enjoy the latest hilarious ¿High Heels¿ hi-jinx.

Harriet Klausner

Another great installment in the series. The characters are at the peak of entertainment, from Maddie’s side of the family, Ramirez’s side of the family, and all the others in between. Maddie’s daddy is so excited to attend the wedding and he is planning on wearing his very best. And you won’t believe what the groom’s side has planned for the event as well as far as dress. Luckily Maddie is so involved with the murder, she doesn’t seem to mind. Or does she?

Maddie is able to get Felix, the reporter, to help her investigate the case again. Of course, she’s trying to do this without the knowledge of her fiance (Ramirez) who is the lead detective on the case. Wait until you find out the deal she makes with him concerning her involvement in investigating the case.

    Another fun read!!
