Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Amber R. Cooper, MD (Washington University School of Medicine)
Description: This is an excellent compilation of clinical vignettes in the field of obstetrics/gynecology. It's a useful resource for medical students, residents, board review, and various other health professionals.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide a review of clinically relevant topics in obstetrics/gynecology in a vignette format. It meets the author's objectives and provides several ready references for further reading on each topic.
Audience: The book is written for various health professionals, from students to practicing physicians, for review of clinically relevant obstetrics/gynecology topics. It is written at an appropriate level for quick reference or prolonged studying.
Features: Various subjects are reviewed in office practice, obstetrics, gynecology, REI, urogynecology, gynecologic oncology, and primary care. The format is particularly appealing, giving readers the ability to briefly review topics and have a handful of references for further reading at the end of each section. It is especially a useful review tool for medical students, residents, and board review. It is important to remember it is only a brief review, answering a few questions on each topic, so some details are understandably left out.
Assessment: In a busy field like obstetrics/gynecology, this book provides a useful review of relevant topics in vignette fashion. It offers excellent references at the end of each vignette to more critically review topics as well. Excellent for CREOGs or board review.
