Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
Microsoft’s doing a major refresh on its MCSA/MCSE Self-Paced Training Kits -- and if the Exam 70-290 kit is representative, the new generation is a winner.

As you’d expect, there’s accurate, clearly written coverage of every exam objective (now including Service Pack 1): installation and configuration; user, group, and computer accounts; filesystems and backup/recovery; hardware, disk storage, and printers; Update Services and licensing; monitoring, and more. The content’s been extensively revamped and more effectively focused on the exam’s objectives.

There’s also a large “Prepare for the Test” section packed with questions, answers, testing skills, and suggested practices. You’ll find more case studies, more troubleshooting scenarios, electronic practice testing in practically any form your heart desires, and (if you don’t have Windows Server handy) a 120-day evaluation version. There’s even a 15% discount coupon for your exam -- making this package an even more compelling proposition. Bill Camarda, from the June 2006 Read Only

    I Also Recommend:

    Server 2003 MCSE 70-290

This is a well organized book, which goes into great detail about how to implement, manage, and maintain a Windows Server 2003 Network. This is not a book for the general reader, as it is a study course for students who are looking to advance their current knowledge of computers into the networking field, or a reference for those already in the field. Overall, I give this 5 stars out of 5. This book is one of many that will advance in the field of MCSA or MCSE. I highly recommend this book over other titles, since the source of the book is coming directly from Microsoft. For a self based training book, this is the book to get! The assisting CD of Server 2003 is very helpful, but do take note that not all of your drivers will be supported by the OS, whether you use a virtual environment or not. Happy studying!!
