MCSE Windows 2000 Server Study Guide with Cdrom

Lisa Donald is not perfect, however her presentation is better than others I have read on this subject. Her material is well organized. Her methods are systematic. Her simulations on CD actually work and can be duplicated. The tests make sure that you understand the material. The questions are not situational, but that can only come from actual experience. This is the first book you read on the subject. It may help you catch mistakes when you read the others and keep you on course while you meander, tack and trim through some of the other tomes on this topic.

MCSE Windows 2000 Server Study Guide with Cdrom

Don¿t buy both Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000 Server. They are by the same authors and 2/3 of each book is an almost exact copy of the other. Get a fresh perspective by buying one of the books from another publisher. The book comes with a CD that includes a copy of the book in PDF form, test exams and audio enhanced simulations of procedures for performing most tasks. Unfortunately, the test questions are often too simplistic to actually be useful in preparing for the test. However, as far as gaining an understanding the functionality of Windows 2000 Server, I believe that the presentation is clear and that the reader will have no trouble is setting up Windows 2000 server. While Lisa Donald does a more complete job on the simulations than James Chellis did for the Windows 2000 Professional simulations, either she has a lisp or the recording quality is poor and it keeps you from concentrating on the material. If you can tune this out you will get a very good feel for working with 2000 server.
