Trey McShannon survived the carnage of the Civil War, only to discover that the deepest wounds are those to the heart. A traitor to his home state of Georgia, Trey has built a new life for himself in the untamed Colorado Territory. Now it's time to find a wife to share the future he's worked so hard for - but can he free himself from his past?

Beth Underhill is looking for choices. Needing to marry to escape being sent back East, she prefers Trey's honest business proposal to false promises of love. Can a union between a man who isn't sure he can still feel love, and a woman who doesn't believe it exists, blossom into more than a marriage of convenience?

McSHANNON'S CHANCE BY JENNIE MARSELAND is a wonderful, beautifully written Western Romance. It is full of emotion and excitement with twists and turns on every page. It's a wonderful love story. The characters are will drag you into the story with their angry, love, hurt, humor, and past experiences. This is a sweet love story, with sweet romance. It is well written with depth and detail. It has more than one storyline going on, but this just makes you feel as if you are there yourself, living during their world. A must read. I would highly recommend especially if you enjoy Westerns, love and romance.

This is a wonderful western romance. Set in a small Colorado town just after the Civil War, Trey and Beth are a couple who initially need each other then learn to love. Trey arranges for a mail-order bride because he needs help with his growing horse and cattle ranch. Beth agrees to come to a stranger because she is tired of being treated as decorative just because she is a woman and courted only for her supposed money and social status. The couple grows both together and as individuals. I highly recommend this debut novel and I am eagerly anticipating more books in this series.

McShannon's Chance is a beautiful western romance filled with emotion and excitement. Jennie Marsland's incredible use of words and vivid detail bring the story to life. From the first page, I was taken right into the heart and soul of the characters, feeling every ounce of happiness, anger, love, and heartache they experience. McShannon's Chance will keep you on the edge of your seat and wanting to read on to the very end. Just when you think it can't get any better, Jennie throws you a curve that will leave you breathless. I give it five, fantastic stars*****, an absolute must read! Laura Ford
