Overview

A little book about the big bond between two young sisters:
Sister in the kitchen.
Sister in my room.
Sister in a box.
Sister going zoom.
Whew.

Being a sibling is about many things: sharing, having fun together, and sometimes not getting along. Me and My Sister lets readers experience all these things through the activities of two young sisters.

Together they have fun making a mess in the kitchen, but the fun is over when little sister invades big sis's room. All is well again as an empty box becomes a shared new toy, but big sister is not as happy about sharing her doll. Despite the troubles and because of the fun, the day ends with two tired sisters and the quiet sharing of a bedtime story. Goodnight!

In Me and My Sister, Ruth Ohi brings her remarkable visual talents together with her special way with words. Her gentle, expressive illustrations complement the easy, rhyming text to create a story that is simple in language but rich in feeling. Me and My Sister will be familiar, comforting, and wholly endearing to siblings of any age.

Satisfying picture book... empathetic artwork... short and ultimately sweet, but not too sweet.

The vibrant watercolour illustrations are simple but do a great job of telling the story for young readers. Highly Recommended.

This charming tale allows the reader a glimpse into a typical day for sisters. There is fun and adventures, but there is also the occasional squabble. These sisters play together, making cookies in the kitchen, dressing up, playing with boxes and reading. But despite the fun, big sister is unhappy to find her little sister in her room and then playing with her doll. The story ends with the sisters fast asleep, sharing a bed.... The short simple sentences make it a perfect reading choice for toddlers. The delightful rhyming text conveys a story beyond the simple words read. Young fans will quickly memorize this book due to the repetition used. The vibrant watercolour illustrations are simple but do a great job of telling the story for young readers. Me and My Sister is recommended for preschools and public libraries. This title is a great gift for sisters everywhere. Highly Recommended.

Sisters can have fun together. Sisters can also be unhappy with one another. And younger sisters just love sharing their older sister's stuff. Yet there is so much to do when there's two! Simple, yet full illustrations in this story demonstrate how two sisters enjoy the day and play together, even if there are a few disagreements. Simple words support the funny pictures of two sisters. At the end of the day, isn't it nice to have someone close to share dreams with?

PreS-K-A simple picture book in which a girl describes a day with her toddler sibling. "Sister in the kitchen./Sister in my room./Sister in a box./Sister going zoom." The little one gets into her things but can be fun to play with and is endearing. The uncluttered design features sweet, expressive watercolors against white backgrounds. With one short line per spread, this book can be read easily by beginners. Most young children with siblings will relate to it.-Sally R.
