All Music Guide - Stewart Mason
Following a pair of fairly ordinary contemporary singer/songwriter albums released on his own dime, Nashville-based singer/songwriter Dave Barnes signed with the small but respected indie Razor & Tie and released 2008's unexpected genre shift Me and You and the World. From the spirited opening track "Brothers & Sisters" onward, Barnes appears to have been listening to a nearly nonstop diet of '70s California rockers: echoes of Jackson Browne, Andrew Gold, Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, and pretty much everyone who ever recorded for Asylum Records percolate through the glossy old-school pop of these 12 mellow tunes. Even the two songs re-recorded from Barnes' earlier D.I.Y. albums, the haunting piano ballad "On a Night Like This" and first single "Until You," share in this new Laurel Canyon mindset -- to good effect -- and the stylistic experiments also fit the time and place evoked. (For example, the gospel-infused "Carry Me Through" is strongly reminiscent of similar tunes by Paul Simon or James Taylor.) Tuneful, inventive, and unfailingly catchy, Me and You and the World is the sound of an artist reaching back to the past to find his voice.

    What an awesome album!

This cd is wonderful. There is so much energy and love behind this album. Barnes did a great job. Some tracks to check out would be, "Since you Said I do", and "Carry me Through". "Since you said I do" is a sweet song with lyrics like, "If we ain't got it, I'll make it Don't worry bout your heart, I won't break it I'll do anything you ask me to Since you said "I do" "Carry me Through" is his gospel song on the album. It's absolutely beautiful. I would definitely say this album is worth buying. : )

    Awesome new album!

Dave Barnes’ new album, “Me, You, and the World”, is awesome. He has truly outdone himself by adding a lot of new flare to his music as well as taking some old songs like “On A Night Like This” and “Until You” and re-vamping them to sound even more awesome. The new album catches the essence of Dave Barnes’ music and acoustic rock sound. The lyrics to all of the songs are amazing and will touch your heart as you listen to them. I highly recommend this album to anyone- old and new DB fans!

    Dave's Best Work Yet!

Dave has outdone himself once again on his newest album, Me and You and the World. This is an awesome album that I would recommend to anyone, no matter their music taste. Dave covers it all in this CD: from everyday life to love to encouraging us to be the change this world needs. Me and You and the World is such a fun and upbeat album, you'll find yourself listening to it more than any other CD. I highly recommend buying this album, you won't regret it!
